Maximus was the calmest, well mannered puppy i've ever had and was a very good & happy Dog!

Nickname: Max

My husband and I were married on September 01, 2007. The night we came home from our honeymoon we picked Maximus up from my husband's sister's house where Max was born. He was the biggest, calmest puppy of his 7 siblings! He looked like a little bear!

For the next year and a half he was our pride and joy! We have three cats, but there is just something different about a puppy/dog that you grow even closer to!

He was of course a hyper boy, especially since we chose not to fix him. We had planned to mate him with a good female dog, possible his girlfriend next door RUBY. She is a Husky/Coyote and just the sweetest thing! She was a bit too young still to breed, but we had hopes to mate them and keep a little boy from their litter. She will miss him alot too!

Max enjoyed our small, mostly dirt filled, fenced in yard. He enjoyed it free to roam for quite a while, until he started to be a puppy and destroy things in the yard. Then we had no choice but to put him on a very long runner. We sacrificed parking in our "driveway" so that he could have a good place to run and have room for his food, house, water, and bathroom areas!
His favorite thing to do was race cars from one side of our yard to the corner! All of our neighbors loved his happy "smiley face", some would even bring him special treats while getting their mail! Max loved people and animals very much!

One thing i will always remember about him was whenever he heard an alarm or siren of any kind, he would howl like a wolf and be very concerned / agitated!

His life came to an end November 29th, 2008. We are in the middle of selling our house, and from the suggestion of many people, we asked our parents if they could watch him for us. After a few weeks with my folks, it was time to bring him to Chris'. We just finished setting him up on the runner, when he got loose. With the wind in his fur and the all the amazing new smells around... he ran off to explore his new surroundings! Unfortunately, there was a busy unlit road next to their house. After a while of searching and calling for him, we decided to go about our evening, and he would come home when he was hungry... as we left on that same busy road, we saw two cars stopped in the middle of the road. Frantic i ran out of our car to my dying dog on the side of the road! I drove back around the corner to my inlaw's house and told them where he was! Chris' dad got their truck to take him to the vet.

Just a few minutes later, they were back... and i knew he did not make it.

I am pregnant with twins and tried VERY hard not to freak out too much, for the safety of our baby boys. Chris and Justus dug a deep whole in his parents yard and we had a little funeral for Max.

We will miss him terribly!! He had a very short life and did not get to do many things. However, the time he did have was happy, healthy, and the best we could have done for him!
