My little Stinky

Nickname: Stinky

We adopted Buddy in March 2011 not long after our old pup Bud passed away. He was called Jasper at the shelter but we changed his name to Buddy Jasper, or Buddy J. Bud was an old pup in the shelter and losing his sight - they told us he had been considered but passed over for adoption several times because of that. When I first met him he came over and sat next to me, putting his head on my knee for a rub - he was a sweet and mellow boy so we brought our other two pups to meet him. It was a bit scary at first as to whether it would work out, but after a few days all 3 of them were getting along quite well.
Buddy was a very good boy - and he loved to be close to us. He was also very smart. He lost his sight completely a few months after we got him, but he was very smart and I became his seeing eye person. He would also "see" with is feet - so he could tell from the change in textures and surfaces where he was by how he was. If he started to head toward a wall or something else that could hurt him I'd say "watch out" and he would quickly change course - almost as well as if he could see it. On April 2 I took him for his routine checkup and all was well - no heartworm; no problems, healthy and happy. 16 days later he is gone - I don't know what happened and probably never will - was it something with his vaccinations that caused a reaction? was there something going on the vet missed? All I know is on Easter Sunday after a big day he suddenly had a grand mal seizure. Then all was well until last Thursday when he had another - vet started doing testing and the seizures began becoming more frequent and more violent. April 16 he seized several times and was crying and very agitated all night, so I took him to the emergency clinic where they sedated him - but then he would not wake up. We brought him home today to wait for him to waken then our vet was going to see him - suddenly he did waken and was struggling to breathe and was crying out in what seemed to be terrible pain. It got worse and worse and then he collapsed again into a coma like state. I took him to our regular vet and the breathing struggle happened again. The vet thinks he had a brain tumor and I did not want him to suffer so had to let him go.
I am here with my husband and our other two pups who are looking for him and we all are sad at his loss. We love you Stinky and always will.
