Nickname: Papa Bear

It happened eight years ago. I just lost my BFF doberman of 14 years and swore I would never have another dog. A few weeks later we found each other or at least I thought I would find you a nice home. You stole my heart and opened up a whole new world of dog agility and obedience. I had to learn fast how to handle such an alpha dog. The first time out at the aglity field, we put you through the tunnel with your little ears flapping and that big grin on your face... we were both addicted. I'll never forget the first time we read each other minds on an agility course. It was a beautiful run and I'll never forget it. I'll never forget laying on the couch for two weeks with the leash wrapped around my wrist while you recover from your TTA surgeries. I love you so much.

But I knew God gave you to me for a reason and I learned about therapy dogs. We became certified and started our journey. You brought so many smiles to people faces.

You are a protector. Well, maybe a little bit over-protective. That silly cop that pulled me over, for what I don't even remember, and you were in the back seat raising kain and the cop kept reaching for his gun. I finally told him " you're not going to shoot my dog." I would have taken the bullet for you. When I had my surgery and we went out to the dog park, you wouldn't let anyone or dog come near me. I love you so much.

I'll never forget the good times. Doggy Camp at the river near Kerrville. All the dogs were smiling and playing all weekend (is this what heaven is like?) At night in our cabin with windows all around, you would lay on the bunk bed keeping watch over all us.

How do I say goodbye? Halo and I hear the doggy door flap and expect you to come through but there is no one there. I'm so sorry... Please God, take good care of Papa Bear. He is something special and carries a piece of my heart.
