Our little Shilo came to us being very sick. He was only 4 lbs. We took great measures to make him well. NO people food of any kind ever, because he had pancreitis and his entire diet became only one food and that also had to be used for his treats and that was ok with him. He came to us on Easter Sunday 2007.
Every single morning he would get up and his grandpa would have hidden pieces of food around the house and Shilo would fine every single piece. Some he would eat, others, he would place on the floor, sit and look at it,. then look at grandpa. He continued this until grandpa moved and then Shilo would quickly eat that piece. Other times Shilo would actually hide that piece of food. If we said I see it, Shilo would then run and get the piece of food and re hide if and the game would continue.
Over time Shilo learned many tricks, which he loved to do. He would sit, sit up, lay, lay down, roll over, shake hands, give me 5, give me 10, dance in circles, walk on his hind feet and speak
The last year he developed Diabetes so he had to have insulin shots every morning and night. He never minded me testing his blood sugar. Such a patient little guy. Eventually he had kidney failure.
The loss of the precious little companion truly devastated both grandpa and myself. I took Shilo for long walks with me. I let him walk the first mile, then I would carry him in my belly pack for the next 3 miles. Then on the way home he got to walk the last mile. He loved that so much. The minute I came out with the belly pack he would jump up and down like a rabbit until I put him in the pack, or put his leash on. He walked with grandpa too. he laid in my lap any time I sat down. he snuggled in bed with us. He was in every part of our lives. We were left with such a huge void when he left.
We finally had to get another little Yorkie. Munchkin can not replace Shilo, but he is helping fill the void. We do think Shilo helped us find Munchkin. He is teaching Munchkin what to do. Because Munchkin is only 16 weeks old and doing many of the exact things Shilo always did.
Shilo is playing in Heaven with Woofie and our grand kids who have gone before him. God love and keep us all.
