This day our little Buddy passed too Odis..... You make sure you show him all the great things there, you two were my sweet little boys, I miss you both so much, my little family won't be the same without you both here. Love you my boys XO

It's been awhile since I wrote, but you know I'll never forget you, my heart still hurts, some days worse than others. I still don't know what to do without you, you took part of my heart with you when you left. I love you and miss you so much.. XO

Remember that I will always miss you, that my heart is broken, I miss you so very much, I think about you EVERY night when I go to bed and sometimes I still can't sleep, I stay up all night. Another Christmas without you, please be there to greet me.

2 years March 10th....and still, I miss you my little guy, you'll always be in my heart and prayers, I'll miss you coming up north with me in the summer, sometimes that is the most difficult place to be without you... love you.....

Well, it's almost Christmas and I still can't get you off my mind 1 1/2 years later. My heart is so broken in half, it's always been so hard to just get by a day without crying still. I remembered how you used to wait while we opened our presents then you'd tear into the gift wrap and rip it into the smallest little pieces you could and the many times you fell asleep under the Christmas tree, you were my present every day, I just miss you so much it hurts my heart and I feel like I can't breath. I hope you show me a sign on Christmas day, just to let me know you're there and o.k. I love you my special boy and miss you so very much words can not explain.

Sunday was a year, it's been a constant struggle, I miss you SO much Odis, I barely got through Sunday, I tried and tried not to think about it, but you are always in my thoughts, don't forget my sweet boy that I love you, you are always in my heart, we will see each other again soon.

Odis, yesterday was 10 months to the day you left me, I thought about you all day having a constant lump in my throat and holding back tears. We miss you so much, Lola, Bud and Fox miss you. Just in the last month they've finally started acting 'normal' again, playing and happy, you were the focus and when you left the other dogs were as lost as I was so now they're healing, but I'm not...I want you back.

Wow....10 months and the pain is still as if you had just gone... YOU were my heart and without you I'm afraid my heart is cold, I just want you back, it made it worse when Grandma told me that Moose died, that hit my heart again. When will you come to see me?...... It's unbearable Odis, no one will ever understand and I have no one to talk to at home....i MISS you..

I still can't believe you're not here. I got your pawprint impression tattoo'd over my heart and I put my hand there every time I think of you.

It's been a really hard day Odis, I miss you so much and I can't stop the tears all morning, you were my only constant friend, you were always happy and always made me laugh, now I have no one to make me laugh and I miss you so much, my heart hurts.

You never got to meet Grandpa, he died the August before I got you, it was sudden and heartbreaking and by June I'd decided to get a puppy, I didn't know at the time that you would be the little guy to help heal the whole family....but especially me.
With 4 other puppies there, you were the smallest, while the other puppies were running around crazily, you struggled to get to Victoria because at 7 weeks old your nails were so long they got stuck in the rug, while Victoria was sitting on the floor ignoring you, you made your way over and crawled onto her lap... when I asked Victoria "What about that one, he struggled to get to you", the breeder stopped me there and said "You don't want this one, he's small, he may not survive, he might have problems" as he picked you up. Victoria, at 9 years old decided that YOU were the one, mostly because she had a good heart and didn't think anyone would want you...
I remember that first night, when you screamed until I put you in bed with me and then I didn't sleep all night because I was afraid I'd roll over on you. You thrived from that moment on, getting stronger and bigger and becoming part of my family, from the moment the whole family met you they all fell in love with you, even the people that were not "dog people" knew you were special.
From that time on....you never ceased to amaze me, what a wonderful little guy you were and because of you I decided to work with dog rescue, because of you I helped many dogs, because of you almost everyone in my family have a dog now, what a gift you gave me.
I remember so many times, the silly things you'd do. You'd get so excited if I said the word "Grandma", she always played fetch with you, only you got HER to chase the ball for you, you definately had her well trained. You didn't like going under furniture, tables or chairs, so if the ball went under there you'd walk over to me and bark...only one bark and I knew always what you wanted.
When the water bowl wasn't full to the top, you'd come and tell me with a little bark, then I'd ask "what do you want?...show me", you'd run over to the water bowl, look down at it and bark and the many times I'd have a treat for you and tell you to sit and you'd quickly sit, give one paw then the other and flop down on your belly within 3 seconds, you always had to do ALL of the little tricks at once. I remember the time we were at the cottage and a dog nipped your nose, although there were alot of family members that you loved there...you ran the full length of the dock and sat on my lap, staring in my eyes while I held and comforted you. You were the Alpha dog up there, all of the dogs followed you and it always made us laugh to see a 8 lb chihuahua being followed by family dogs that were 10 times your weight, but you were always in charge and everyone knew it. Just to mention the word "bird" would get you into a frenzie, I remember the times I'd take you to the park and you'd run right into the middle of 20 resting seagulls, even though they were bigger than you....they were still just birds to you. Singing "Happy Birthday" was always a little interesting.....you thought we were saying " BIRD-day" instead of "Birthday"....and just the word would get you into a little frenzie.
I always looked forward to coming home after work, you'd get so excited and run around in circles, you were the only one happy to see me, no matter how sick you'd gotten, no matter how much pain you were in.
When I was sick, you never left my side, always curled up under my arm and although you'd never had an aggressive bone in your body, you would not allow any of the dogs to come near me...you just knew.
I was always so proud of you, you were the happiest little dog and made everyone feel special.
When you got sick.......it was not obvious in the beginning, you were always so funloving that you never showed that you were in any discomfort, and then I saw the spots all over your neck, after all the tests, biopsy, etc...you still loved to go to the vets and whenever I picked you up you were happy, they treated you as their own and had become very fond of you, as everyone did. You had Cushings disease...and it was almost a relief to find that out because it can be treated......so, I was happy that my Odis was going to be with me for a long time. Then, two days later, you started whining and the next day your front paw was paralyzed and then you walked with your head down,....and after a vet visit I found out you had a problem with the bones in your neck and with a $6,000. surgery, it could possibly be corrected.....or not, no guarantee. We tried something else, thinking that painkillers would help and within a week you went from 1 pill to 3 pills per dose and you were very unhappy and you still cried alot. Every morning you would stare at me, head down, paw up, standing because it was too painful to lay down, but you would let me pick you up carefully, and I would put you in my lap and you would start to fall asleep, then I'd have to leave to go to work and you'd be in pain all over again and I would cry all day.
Aunt Nancy came to visit you and she was very sad, she told me that she believed it was time for you and even though I knew it was......I didn't want to do it, I didn't want to believe it. That night you cried a little bit, but that morning you were in alot of pain again even the painkillers were doing no good, I knew I would take you in that morning....to get you out of pain, Victoria was taking Lola out and even in the pain you were in, you got up and limped towards the door...you wanted to go out with them, so I picked you up and carried you outside you walked in the grass and layed in the sun for a short while, that is my last memory of you that sticks in my mind....before we went to the vets. Your vet didn't want to do it....until he saw you and how uncomfortable you were, and he teared up and said "you are doing the right thing", you layed quietly on my lap while they put you to rest....and it was the worst thing I've ever experienced....losing you. I left you there but your spirit came with me, I was inconsolable for a very long time. Your vet sent a card with your pawprint on it and on October 25, 2012, I got that pawprint tattoo'd on my chest above my heart and every time I look in the mirror I see your paw and I know you'll always be with me, always connected.
I'm in alot of pain now Odis, I don't sleep, I think of you so much I have a constant lump in my throat just trying not to cry. I had a flash of you in my dreams last night for the first time and it just makes me miss you even more. Please forgive me for what I had to do and I will try to forgive myself.
