God is amazing. Oreo will always have a special place in our heart and in our family, We had a baby boy this past year and we plan to tell him all about our Oreo when he gets old enough to understand. A part of me knows deep down that Oreo knew it was time. A transition was about to happen in our life and she could sense it. I know I will see her again as she waits for us patiently.

Oreo, mommy will always love you unconditionally.

Oreo was a guardian angel from God. She was on her death bed when she was less than a year old with parvo. My dad put her on an IV just as we began to see bugs eating away at her skin. God gave her 7 more wonderful years of life with me. She used to be an outdoor dog, and just another dog among the 5 dogs we had, at the time. When I graduated from college, I took her with me. She was no longer an outdoor dog. She became my princess. She had her own luxurious bed, closet, and mommy always gave her all the treats she wanted. She had never been cared for quite like this. Along with this came the pain of learning that she hadn't had all of her shots, or tests, so mommy had to learn all the lessons of taking care of a dog the hard way.

Oreo saw mommy through many of the days that have shaped her into who she is today. She was there when mommy moved out on her own. She was there every day and night to scare all the bad people away with her loud and scary bark, that sounded like it came from a rottwieler. Oreo was there when mommy got her heart broken and all of the friends and family she had made for five years had turned their backs on her. Oreo was there to see mommy make many relationship mistakes, even after that. She was there to help mommy move to DC and protect her during the nights when she would walk her all by herself. She was there when mommy got married and learned how to let daddy take care of her for once. Even then, she knew exactly when to let daddy take control and protect her, and when to take control and protect mommy. With all she had seen mommy go through, Oreo had to learn how to grow up so fast, that by the time she was 7, mommy could see her wise soul when she gazed into her eyes. Mommy knew Oreo knew her like no one else ever could. If anyone ever wondered what unconditional love looked like, all they had to do was look into Oreo's eyes. Through it all, nothing was ever too much to handle because Oreo was always there to heal mommy's pain. As long as Oreo was there, mommy was still strong and standing.

Oreo is no longer here anymore. Only God knows why he decided to take her away without a warning. On her last day, mommy walked her and her new little brother Obie outside in the rain. Oreo was happy as can be. Oreo played with Obie and ate all her food like a good dog. Oreo fell asleep on the sofa with mommy, daddy and Obie. In the middle of the night she walked to her usual spot, just as she always did, to wait for mommy and daddy to go the the bedroom and lay down in their bed. In the morning, when mommy and daddy finally went to the bed, they called Oreo, but she never came out. She usually jumped at the first chance to crawl under the covers with them. This was very strange. Daddy looked under the bed, and there he found her. Cold and stiff.

We don't understand right now why this has happened. This is the hardest thing I have ever had to deal with. I feel like God robbed her from me. I know this is all a process that will all make sense some day, but right now, it hurts so much.

We love Oreo so much and I feel so empty without her. I hope and pray that she will be waiting for me when my time has come so that we can live our life together in eternity.
