Nickname: Joshie

Josh was born in October 1999 on the 22nd, and I had bought him for Ann to give to her in December after he had completed his early life with his mum and litter. It became very apparent very quickly how such a nice dog he was.
Aaron had gone to university and our home became just the three of us Ann, myself John and our wee dog Josh. Josh was ever friendly and I cannot ever think of a time when barked at strangers. He never ever bit anyone and was never aggressive. Anyone who came into our home was always warmly welcomed by him.
Through the following years as our family developed and more and more grandchildren came onto the scene, Josh showed his excellent qualities and his unique and loving nature. The kids tried grabbing his tail, his whiskers, his legs, his back, and he could only ever lick them for they were his play friends.
Josh was always picky with his food even from a pup, and would only ever eat the best meat cuts, an occasional carrot, tried Apple did not like that. He loved his soft chews.
Josh enjoyed great health for the majority of his 15 1/2 years. He only ever had his annual injections. It was only evident from his 15 th birthday that he was getting older, although every one who met him assumed he was only ever 2 or 3. Such was his loving nature.
He developed an eye infection which we treated as per guidance from our then vet and he then went onto develop an ear infection. We managed to beat this, or so we thought. Both illnesses came roaring back around Christmas, when our vet then suggested putting him to sleep. I argued that he was still eating well, drinking, wanting his walks. He was not showing signs of his life ending. Changing vets, they were shocked by this suggestion and went onto treat Josh back to his old self, although our new vet identified Westie lung disease, something that was never mentioned before by our previous vets.
Josh survived for another 6 months with mostly great doggy days, and his end was rapid from onset of breathing difficulties to his death with me comforting him. I did not expect him to die, but I told him if he had enough he could go. He Did. Love you wee fella xx
