There will never be another Heidi.

Nickname: Heidi Marie, Wiggle Butt

Heidi was born on a ranch in Kansas and when we first went to see her along with her siblings we fell in love with the little ball of fuzz that looked so cute and serene - not hyper like the rest of the litter. Little did we know that for three straight years Heidi would have ADHD. She never stopped! We wondered what we got ourselves into. Plus, she had deformities - googly bloodshot eyes and a tongue so long it was impossible for her to contain it in her mouth so it usually hung out between her teeth - not so difficult as she also had a severe overbite.

But despite her funny features, she was a very special dog - one of a kind. For one, she had a beautiful blue merle coat - gray, black, orange and white - from which she got many compliments. People always stopped to comment on her. And she loved people. She had to be in the middle of everyone and everything - all the time. She was also extremely smart. My mother loved her very much and never hesitated to show people what she could do. Not long after we brought Heidi home I found out how fast she learned things so I checked out a video from the library and learned how to teach more complicated tricks such as opening and closing cabinet doors, closing drawers, closing the refrigerator door, taking things out of cabinets and bringing them to me, picking things off the floor and giving them to me, passing things from one person to another and the best trick of all - playing the piano. No, she couldn't perform Mozart, but she could bang a note or two with her paw and would keep trying until we all could hear it.
