I got Vega only a few months ago. I’m a pug lover and I was looking for a new dog to keep company to my 4 years old female pug. She was annoying my 9 years old pug (Darwin). Darwin is my first pug and I bought him with the money I got from my grand mother inheritance. Darwin is the sweetest dog in the world. He had a difficult live with multiple health issues. Unfortunately I live in Quebec (French) and complete dog’ services are not always available. I had to do the best I can to provide him with the best cares I could find. Darwin had a disk hernia when he was not even 1 year of age and with time his condition only got worst. Oprah, my 5 years old black pug, was teasing him all the time. He just wanted to get away from her and I had to find a solution.

The ideas to get a new dog grew on me over the last year and I started to watch for ads before Christmas. I answered a few of them with no success. One Monday over my lunch break I saw the ads for this cute looking dog. I answered with not much conviction but I got a reply. When I got to meet him it just clicks. I brought him home and he cried during most of the first night. The next morning I left for work and he was barking and crying like mad. I was feeling he just needed me to help him settle a bit so I left the office at noon to work from home. When I got to my street I could hear him cry. This is when I new I had a lot of work to do. I live in an apartment and the landlord let me have dogs as long as they don’t disturb the neighbours. I was the third family for this dog and I’m not the kind of person who takes this kind of commitment lightly. I had to work on the issues end of the story.

I went to the store get a lot of bones and goodies and started to do exercise with him. At first I could not get to the bathroom without him panicking when he was not able to be with me. After four days of work I could go to work on Monday morning. This dog had such a capacity to changes it was amazing. He got to have lots of new experiences: raw food, home cook meal (that I had to feed him with a spoon for the first few days because he only had kibbles), fenced backyard where he could run without a leash, homemade donuts, and holydays at the sea… I think he was a very happy dog.

I the last 2 weeks of his life I brought him on vacation. My mom could not believe he was the same dog. I could feel he was taking his place in our pack. He was so relax that I was able to hold him like a baby and he was sleeping on my lap. We had amazing days at the beach with the dogs; they were so happy. On my way back home he died. I’m devastated and heartbroken that he is gone. I really was this dog forever home. I miss him terribly.

Dear Vévé,

It’s been 6 month already. Your departure was so unexpected that it still feels like a nightmare. I’m thinking about you often and I’m wondering what live would have been if you were still with us. I’m glad we had the chance to go on vacation and play at the beach. It gave me nice memories to cherish. I hope we meet again.

Dear Vega,

I'm having a special thought for you today because you left this world one year ago. Although time does heal some of the pain, I still can’t comprehend what happened that day. I hope you are in a special place because you were a really special dog. Our story was very short but your connection with our little family was precious. I still remember how Oprah was lost when you left us. You were her pal, her playing buddy. I think you made her remember all the fun she used to have with her little brother.

I’m grateful for the great vacation memories even if it was your destiny to never return home. I have to admit death is a really had thing to understand. Things will get better and I will move-on but I will have lost my innocence forever. My experience with you has taught me that thing can sometimes turn for the worst. I never expected you to die like that.

Take care of you and say hello to Simba. I wish will see each other one day.
