To my dearest Lola,

I still remember the day that we went to pick you out. I was intent on getting my own puppy to take care of and be responsible for. =) So the process began and I kept searching and eventually ended up with daddy and Sam at the rescue farm you were at. You were the last of your litter, furry and so clumsy with those long legs. We just fell in love with you, even Sam didn't turn her nose up at you initially. The first couple of months were difficult and an adjustment period. Mommy found out she was pregnant and couldn't take care of you for the most part, Daddy wasn't happy about that at first. He would go downstairs every morning and you would just shower him with your pee with that big goofy smile on your face. You were always a happy dog. But we both grew to love you dearly and Sam eventually came around. I know you two were like sisters and best friends, and loved each other very much. I'm hoping you are somewhere safe, happy and being watched after.

We will miss you so much! That toothless smile, I can't believe you lost 2 of your teeth already as a puppy. Silly girl. That smile was contagious. You had such soulful eyes, so patient and loving, always willing to please and make us happy. I will miss the tug of wars and the times you walked us... =) I will always remember that time you got up from your nap as a puppy and just walked on top of me and peed on me. Daddy will miss the cuddle times with you since you were his 50 plus lb lap dog. I hope you have plenty of bacon to eat, socks to chew and stuff animals to tear apart. I hope you had a good life with us even though it was cut short. I hope you didn't suffer much. I hope you are just happy.

We will cherish all the fond memories of you. We are all grieving for you now. Daddy is devastated, you were his second child, best friend and companion. Sam has lost a sister, friend and dear companion. Nathaniel is too young now to remember you but he would have been your partner in crime. Right now, mommy is in tears as I write this. I miss you so much Lola. Grabbing that big head of yours and kissing you on the forehead. Big hugs and kisses.

(Lola passed away suddenly with no warning signs. The autopsy that was performed was inconclusive without performing additional tests and a biopsy. Her red and white blood cell count were very low and there was some spots of blood and congestion in her pancreas and small intestine. We believe she had this condition as a puppy, she was very affectionate and loved to cuddle. She didn't have the same energy that most puppies have.)
