Nickname: Smokey Bear, Bubby

Smokey came into this world with another family.....and I was lucky enough to find him. Getting my mother to let me keep him was another story.....but after she saw him she knew he was meant for me. For many years while I was in school and learning to take care of myself....my mom took care of Smokey for me.....She taught him tricks and house trained him....to where he could do almost anything you asked him to do.....He loved to play with his frisbee...and sometimes got so excited that he would end up biting his tongue...but he never wanted to stop......He loved his Greenies....and Beggin Strips....and he didnt dare bother with the immitation treats.....he was a dog who knew what he wanted for sure......When the time was right my mother decided that Smokey needed to come live with me......this was my first time Living alone and I needed him more than anything.....I remember going to bed at night and he would always make sure that he was between me and a door....so that if someone were to come in he could protect me from them.......he became not only my best friend but also my protector.....I grew to depend on his judgement with people and if he didnt care for someone....he would let me know...and sometimes let them know......and sure enough those people didn't stay in my life for long......When I got married Smokey was very jealous of affection given to me.......that was from someone else besdies him......but with my husband Smokey knew that he now had some help taking care of me.....and the Boys out numbered the girls.......Smokey loved Tony just as much as he did me......even though they got into some pissing matches on who was the Head man in Charge....He would always wait at the front door for us to come home....and he grew to know the sound of Daddys work truck pulling in....which got him all excited......About 5 years back we added a little beagle/blue heeler puppy Samantha to our family.....Smokey at this time was getting older and wasn't so sure about her and all her energy.....but he let her think she ran the house....and occasionally we would see him cleaning her and showing her the same love he showed us.......as the years went by Smokey would still tried to keep up his playful ways when the time was right for him......Although towards the end of his journey with our Family he grew tired and weaker he never stopped loving us with all he had......and looking into his eyes this last week....I knew he was ready for something bigger and after all he had done for me and our family....he deserved to be at peace and have the chance to run and play all day....catch all the frisbees he wanted..... eat all the treats and human food he wanted, and not hurt anymore.....Smokey leaving this world may have been what was best for him and he may be in a better place....but it is truely one of the sadest moments of my life......I am lost without .... My Protector.....My Guardian Angel.....My Best Friend...My Bubby....My Smokey Bear......and I will always love you and keep you close to my heart.....and time can't come soon enough until we meet again!!!!!
