Nickname: Roman

In October of 2005 I discussed on several occasions that I wanted a dog for my upcoming birthday in November. My mother would always say you know that is a big responsiblity. I went to two different pet stores and when i went intot the last this little brown Dauschaund caught my eye. He took his paw and tapped the glass and I thought, "Awwh How Cute" it was almost like he wanted to say pick me pick me. I left the pet store and returned the next day to spend $350.00 on a pet that would soon become my best friend.

Roman was a part of my family. My mother and I had to make a lot of decisions based around him. We would always say," We cant stay gone too long because Roman will be wondering where we are".

Roman was a beautiful pet and a great friend to the very end. He loved his Granny and even in his last few days of obvious illness he wanted to be where ever his Granny was.

I know alot of people will never understand how a person could come to love a dog so much (some of my own family members) but to know Roman was to love him.

I could never put into words what Roman meant to my monther and me and our fund memories are countless.

Sunlight streams through window pane
unto a spot on the floor....
then I remember,
it's where you used to lie,
but now you are no more.
Our feet walk down a hall of carpet,
and muted echoes sound....
then I remember,
It's where your paws would joyously abound.
A voice is heard along the road,
and up beyond the hill,
then I remember it can't be yours....
your golden voice is still.
But I'll take that vacant spot of floor
and empty muted hall
and lay them with the absent voice
and unused dish along the wall.
I'll wrap these treasured memorials
in a blanket of my love
and keep them for my best friend
until we meet above.
