Our Best Friend

Nickname: Bails, Bay, "hey" Bay Bay

It took me a few days to be able to write something about our precious Bailey because I was so heart broken. But after thinking about with a clear mind I thought it wasn't fair to you if I don't share with others what an amazing friend you were...

I met Bailey when I first met my boyfriend - now husband - in college. No wonder you were so smart you were a college graduate!! Bailey stole my heart the first time I laid eyes on her, and I must have tasted great because she couldn't stop licking me! She loved what we call the "walk-by-lick"!

Bailey was loved by many and was able to enjoy so many celebrations, family trips, going for runs and walks in the park and car rides. You were so well behaved, except when you stole Mom and Dad's salmon we were supposed to have for dinner! I guess you just wanted to show us that yes, you can get food on the counters. O'well I guess that was our fault, I would pick salmon over dog food too.

Bailey loved visiting Grandma and Grandpa's lake house during the summer. She would spend countless hours swimming with her cousins Lexxie and Libby, they were quite the three-some. You couldn't help but ignore when she passed gas because she would just look at you with the expression of "oh, was that me"? She had so may human characteristics which made her a joy to watch.

Bailey was always in good health, and the yearly vet checks were always positive. This is what first caught our attention when you were "coughing" for a couple of days straight. We immediately took you to the vet and of course they had to run tests, which you did not like. They first thought you had a bacteria infection and sent us home with medicine. After two weeks of medication and you not feeling better we knew something was wrong just by the way you acted. Bailey was diagnosed with type A lymphoma on July 30th, 2010. We were crushed. Dr. G gave you 2 weeks to 2 months because the mass in your chest was very aggressive. You put up a good fight but your Dad and I did not want you to suffer. That was our number one goal. Two months and five days later we had to make the hardest decision we've ever been faced with. You died peacefully in our arms October 3rd, 2010 at 5:15 am .

We miss you terribly but are thankful that you are no longer in pain. You will always have a special place in our hearts and whenever we see a Boxer we will always be reminded of you. Rest easy baby girl, go play with Patches, Annie and Snick, they will show you a good time.
