He was a great little dog in spite of his disabilities. His life was simple, but happy.

Nickname: Kelly

It was an unexpected turn of events. Keller had seemed reasonably well until that evening. I had to make the difficult decision to end his suffering. At 2:00 a.m. on Oct. 10, 2010, Keller became free of pain and made his way to the Rainbow Bridge. I hope you can see and hear now baby.

Keller was both blind and deaf. He had sustained a back injury in his youth which healed without any medical assistance, so he had a slight limp. I became his Foster Mom in March 2010. His first few days in my home were tough for him, but soon he was getting around with no problem.

In spite of the fact that he could not hear or see, he was a happy little soul. His tail was always wagging. He never asked for more than food and a pat on the head. If dinner wasn't down by 7:00 p.m. he let me know about it with an ear piercing howl!

He always knew if I was near by my scent. He would hunt the house over for me and when he found me he would simply stand on my feet and lean his head on my legs.

Rest in peace my brave little soldier. You have a forever place in my heart.

Not a day goes by that you don't enter my thoughts. I've had many foster dogs, but you were special. You had just come into our rescue group shen I was ready for another foster. I chose you! I was informed that perhaps you would never be adopted and that I would have you until the end, and I did. I just wish that I'd had you longer. You were so accepting of everything -- good or bad -- never complaining. II love you Keller.

Another Senior Silver Poodle is my newest foster dog. He too is a kind, gentle soul, Keller. He's quite a bit like you. But there will never be another Keller. You were one of a kind. You took whatever was offered you with no complaint nor did you request more. Rest well, you deserve it.

The Senior Silver Poodle that I mentioned has now been diagnoised with Lymphosarcoma.
He coughs a lot, but we did start a med yesterday that will hopefully make him (his name is Chappelle) more comfortable. He will be joining you in a few months, so take good care of him. You will like him. He's just like you.
