LIFE WAS A BALL!!!

Cosmo was the definition of a social animal. He loved people, he loved his furry friends, and he loved life! Cosmo’s zest for life endeared him to everyone who had the pleasure to meet him.

As those who knew him can attest, he loved the ball! One of his favorite things was to have a little fun with humans when it came to throwing the ball. First he would nudge the ball right up to you with his nose. If you weren’t interested he would try again, and again, and again. He was very persistent. Finally after looking at those sweet Cosmo eyes begging you to throw the ball, you would concede. You’d bend down to pick it up and just when it was within your grasp, Cosmo would swoop in to grab it with his mouth. You would try to take it from him but he wouldn’t release it. Soon you were begging Cosmo for the ball so that you could throw it for him. Talk about getting people to do what you want and having them thank you for it! What a brilliant boy!!!

Cosmo could smell a ball a mile away. He would let you know in no uncertain terms that a ball was under the couch, a chair, or anywhere else that was inconvenient. Sometimes you would look and see nothing. He would disagree. In his nearly 15 years of life, he was never once wrong about a ball being exactly where he said it was.

Cosmo made friends wherever he went. In Plattsburgh, he would ride in the car with his head out the window and everyone we passed would call to him, “Cosmo!” He loved that everyone knew him and you could see the pride in his face.

At Dunkin Donuts, he consistently received free munchkins from the staff at the drive thru. With Cosmo in the car, I was lucky if the staff paid enough attention to me to get my paid for coffee and bagel. Occasionally I’d take his free munchkins to go and then sneak one for myself. I don’t think he minded. A munchkin he would share- a ball-probably not.

Cosmo was not only a fun dog, but he was a gentle soul. He was great with small children and even small kittens (Rocki). He offered his comfort and love to all.

He missed his best buddy Montana. I hope they are having a few good laughs right now during their trip down memory lane. “Remember that time we wanted to get spiffed up on a Saturday evening and ran away to the groomers?”

We will miss you dearly Cosmo! You were a unique, fun, smart, and loving dog! Send our love to Monty too! We will forever love you Cosmo!
