Free at last Momma...

Nickname: Momma Bear, Tusc, Fluff n Stuff

Tuscany was born in a kill shelter. From the beginning she was compromised. She had no immune system and was listed as a "special needs" animal by 5 months old. That was when my vet told us she would live. We honestly did not know if she would. For five years, she was loved, cared for and taken care of. She was a wonderful little girl, who although suffered from mental and emotional issues, was a beautiful soul who just loved with all her heart. She tried so hard to get it right in life and in the end she just coudln't hold off the demons. She was diagnosed with the early onset of senilty and we lost our battle when she turned on my family. She just didn't know who people were after awhile, and my vet, a man I love, had warned us this would happen. We were never promised she would live to the ripe old age of 10 or 11. We were lucky to have the 5 we got with her. The painful and unexpected decision to put her down was made overnight.

I can not begin to describe the pain I feel over her loss. Even now, as I sit in my new home, I look for her under the Christmas tree which I used to tell her was put up just for her, because that's the spot she choose to sleep under every year. I moved from the home I shared with her because I could not go home to the house every night without her. I would look for her. The memories were so painful. I spent two weeks there after she died, and the heaviness that followed me was unreal.

She had a good life; she had 5 years more than most would have given her. She was sweet and funny and had such a wonderful heart. She would tell you flat out how she felt and had her own routine for day time and night time. At 9:30 she was ready for bed...if you weren't, she would tell you she was. She couldn't go to sleep unless you were there with her. Sometimes I would tell her "Mommy can stay up later than 9:30". She didn't care. LOL :)

I have been through this pain with our family dogs, whom I loved so much. But this...this pain is just agony.

My sister's beloved GS was her first friend. When we put him down in 08, Tuscany mourned his loss. People saw her depression. My vet actually said he was not shocked by it. She could feel his loss. She had seen Beezer a few days before he died, and she cried and cried and whimpered and would not let anyone near him. She licked him and offered him her toy...she loved him.

Tuscany - Momma misses you little girl. We all do. Your favorite ornament is on the tree. I have your gingerbread family with me. Mommy won't let it go...rest now little one. Beezer is with you...he won't let anything happen. You have the peace now, you just couldn't find on earth momma...know I love you beyond reason and miss you everyday little girl. Be at peace
