God Speed My Little Man to the Bridge. You will always be in my heart.

My little Maxie was the joy of my life. He shadowed me all day long following me from room to room. He always knew when I was leaving because he would see me put on my shoes. He woo wooed and would stand by the door refusing to move unless I took down his harness and leash. Then he would impatiently stamp his tiny feet until I had it in place and said "OK Maxie, let's go." If I told him " No you aren't going" I had to pick him up and pet him and get his kisses and set him down away from the door. He was my love and took a huge part of my heart with him. If I went to lie down and didn't pick him up and put him on my bed he would bark his soft little bark until I got him. Then he would stay close for a bit and later go to a folded comforter at the foot of my bed that was his special place. He loved to ride in the car with me and sat regally in the passenger seat in his bed no matter how long the trip. When Gary and I would come home, we had to pick up Peiwei first ( he was with us first ) and when we put him down Maxie ( who was smaller and all hair) would nip playfully at Peiwei, as if to say " You baby, I should come first" As I reached to pick up Maxie he would make a tiny leap into my hands and then lie as close as he could to my chest for his turn. For over a year he would sit at the floor in front of my chair and whine and bark to be picked up. I always wondered why he could not jump up, but I gave in and scooped him up and into my lap. One day out of the blue, I guess I was being too slow, he gingerly jumped up and looked at me to say " Why did I have to do that alone " From that day on, he jumped up himself more often then not. He was a beautiful square boy with a lovely flowing coat. He never complained when I brushed and truly acted like it was his due to have me work on him so that he looked his best. He became a picky eater and anything that he discovered his pills inside of he refused to eat again, even when no medications were present.The only thing he would still eat after finding his meds in it was french fries, but he was a master at eating around or licking off everything I tried to trick him with. To the last though he was my little prince, always accepting love with his return of affection. He will always be in my heart.
