YAZ Stinnett, age 8, was born on May 16, 2002, at Cedar Hill Farms, in Halifax, Virginia. The pick of two litters, he joined his adoptive family on July 9, 2002. It was a hot July day when his family drove him the 3 hours from the breeder to his new home. The breeder's parting words had been "Little buddy, I can tell you're going to have it made at your new home" and those words would hold true for eight fun-filled years. The ride to Glen Allen would be the first of many car rides, as well as the first time he would hog an air vent. He had his parents "wrapped" from day one on the car ride home, batting his beautiful amber eyes, pushing his way to the front of the car, and strategically positioning himself in front of the air conditioning. After arriving home in Glen Allen, Yaz quickly made friends with countless Millstone and Wyndham neighbors. His circle of friends included both adults and children, 50 of whom gathered in his cul-de-sac for "dog-themed" snacks and beverages to celebrate his 7th birthday. He had a full social calendar that included trips to favorite stores, dining out, sporting events, halloween dress up parties and travel. He made his last trip to the beach this past fall, attending the "Yappy Hour" and woofing down several doggie daiquiri's at the Outer Barks. His favorite local stores were Pet Smart, Sammy Snacks and Three Dog Bakery and he enjoyed eating out at Enzo's and Brio Tuscan Grill. He also enjoyed drive thrus (but once hit his head and drooled down the window when he mistook an ATM for the window at McDonald's). He insisted his Mom was a good cook ... but then he also thought McDonald's burgers were haute cuisine. He loved 80s music, especially the Go-Go's. He preferred football to basketball, but his favorite sport was UVA tailgating and he enjoyed the applause he would receive for flipping treats off his nose in the parking lot. It was one of many tricks and tasks he performed ... ranging from those with utility (bringing in the morning paper) to those just for shear fun (doing yoga on command). He had an expansive vocabulary, which made the spelling of certain words a necessity. He was a lover not a fighter and loved on everyone and everything with whom he came in contact ... strangers, intruders, cats, dogs, bunnies, squirrels, ducks ... someone forgot to tell him he came from a proud pedigree of master field trial champions bred to hunt ducks. Yaz leaves behind dozens of toys and other prized possessions, all of which he could retreive by name. He had a particular fondness for a smelly, 7 year old, one legged reindeer, his grandmother sewed back together more than a dozen times. He also leaves behind many friends, including special friends at the Shady Grove Animal Clinic.
