To My Otto,

You left me on March 28, 2011 at 10:39am; you slipped away peacefully laying in my lap just like you used to sleep in my lap when you were just a pup when we brought you home in December of 1997. My heart is broken but Phoebe is still here & she is so sad too & she seems a bit lost without you here. I`m grateful that you told me with your eyes that you just couldn't do life anymore on the morning you left. You were sick for several days leading up to the day & I know you tried so hard to stay for me & Phoebe; but your body was just done I suppose. We all miss you something fierce & I can't move anything of your things & seeing your pictures all around me just reminds more of how much I love you & miss you.

For 13 ½ years you gave our family such happiness! You were such an awesome companion & my best friend. You were always there when I needed you & never complained & always perfect in every way. I can honestly say that you really never did anything bad in your entire lifetime.

Well, maybe that's not completely the truth. Remember, those Matterhorn's the really expensive military boots you decided to use as teething ring when you were just a puppy? That was so not a good experience. Also, the chocolate chip cookie incident; that sneaky Olivia, who you're finally getting to see once again, gave you a taste of & you ate the entire plate when she ate just a few; I never seen a little puppy puke so much, you never stole food EVER again! Oh yeah, remember how we used to think you were the one tearing up all the pillows but then we videotaped you & Olivia once when we left the house & realized it was really Olivia & she was just getting you in trouble? Oh & we can't forget how at trip to Maple Hills Vet Hospital was your 3rd most favorite thing to do. You always were a prefect patient in my terms & what dog likes going to the vet. It could have had something to do with the double cheeseburger you'd get after every visit maybe? Those were such fun times, Otto; you made it all worth it. You were just the BEST.

Then, when you were 7 yrs old & our Olivia crossed the Rainbow Bridge just like you did on Monday; we brought home Phoebe; you were not happy with us at all as I recall. She stole all your stuff, followed you everywhere, & annoyed the crap out of you. But I tried to explain that Phoebe was staying & you had to be nice to the "baby" & that you needed to remember that 7 yrs earlier you were doing all the same things to an older Olivia & she eventually became your best buddy. Through the years you & Phoebe became inseparable & even in your passing she laid on the floor next to you giving you a little kiss as you slipped away from us.

I just wanted to tell you that me & Phoebe still feel you here with us every night when we go to bed & as we pass your spot on the floor by your bed we pause for a bit & I've hung your collar on the mirror in the truck with Olivia's so you're with me while I'm driving; your favorite place of all. I still cry some & probably will for awhile yet. Oma & Opa are sad too but they say that Phoebe needs a buddy; I agree too but I think Phoebe should pick him don`t you. Maybe the new guy will give her a hassle like she did to you. It's her turn now don't you think?

Well, my Boobaluba, Mommy loves you forever & she's so happy that this "Doggy Heaven" site exists because it really seemed to help me being able to write to you. I know you're doing fine now & my Mom, Olivia, Ludwig, Simon, Murphy, & your favorite vet-tech Jen & all the others that passed before were all there to meet you when you arrived at the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. I miss you & you can come & visit me & Phoebe anytime you want to by letting us know somehow.
