Where can we even start? We took Magic 5 years ago to save her from being put to sleep in a home where they had too many dogs. She was a dog who needed to be in a home where there were no other dogs. And in such a home she was the queen... We had no idea when we took her that she would so quickly and completely win her way into our hearts... She wasn't a very "licky" dog but she would snuggle up with us like a cat. When we were sick, she snuggled up on the sofa with us and kept us warm - we called her Dr. Muffs. When she protected us from the UPS man or mailman or anyone else coming near her house, she was our Officer Muffs (complete with MA state police training!). And then she snuggled up with us at night, taking turns in each of our beds until we all were asleep. Only a few times in the years she lived with us did she sneak back downstairs to sample the "Trash Buffet" while we slept. She was happiest curled up with her family on the couch, or retrieving a ball in the backyard or one of her toys in the house, or being rewarded with a special treat. We will laugh whenever we think of her sticking out her "lizard tongue" hoping to sneak some food off our plates. We will smile when we remember her barking at the doorbell whenever it rang on the TV. We will never hear a smoke detector go off again without thinking of her jumping into our laps, shivering. (That and the vacuum were all that scared our brave girl.) We will never forget her soulful eyes and the happy wag of her tail each and every time we returned to her from being away - whether for a week or 5 minutes. She helped us through difficult times and helped us heal when we were broken. She "adopted" Jimmy as her puppy. She cherished Nick as her very own boy. She became the girl we never had. She brought us love we never imagined she would and she will remain in our hearts forever...
