We love you, Princess, and we miss you. Thanks for the many memories throughout the years.

Nickname: Prissy, Prissy Doodles, Baby, Baby Girl

Dearest Princess,

It is with a very heavy heart that I write my goodbye letter to you. I know you are in heaven right now with Max, Dusty, and Gretchen playing with them, running with the deer, and you’re back in perfect health.

It is no secret that we’re going to miss you… it was just so sudden when you left us. Personally, I’m going to miss a lot about you… I’m going to miss seeing your cuteness every time I came home. I’m going to miss you greeting me at the door with your loud bark. I’m going to miss you barking in the morning as you made your way downstairs, waking me up. I’m definitely going to miss seeing you and Ruff play in the living room.

I’m going to miss the high-fives, the roll-overs, feeding you treats, and giving you belly rubs. I’m also going to miss carrying you around, whether it was for a few minutes, or up 2 flights of stairs. Princess, you know I carried you up 2 flights of stairs later on in your life so you wouldn’t feel any pain climbing the stairs. I’m also going to miss you finding a table or someone’s legs to hide under whenever you heard thunder.

I’m even going to miss you being a little rotten dog … whether it was ripping farts silently, mooching at breakfast, lunch, dinner or whenever anyone was in the kitchen, going crazy over deer, climbing on the furniture while we were gone, and occasionally getting loose and escaping from the yard. Or, even the time we brought you inside my grandma’s back yard all muddy and wet and you climbed on my uncle’s newly dry-cleaned pants. Actually, that was pretty funny.

I think your best moment in your wonderful life, though, Princess, was when you had your 9 puppies. Sure, you escaped from the yard while you were in heat, but, it was a life-changing experience for all of us. It was a wonderful April day in 1999 when you had Ruff, Ruffles, Little Princess, Elvis, Elvira, Pepper, Peprica, Tux, and for some reason, the name of your 9th puppy escapes me. I truly enjoyed having all of those puppies around, and was sad when 8 of them were given away, and we ultimately kept Ruff. Ruff lost a good mommy, and a dear companion.

You were also a crucial part of my teenage years, especially when moving and changing schools… whenever I had those rough days in school, I was always glad to come home to you. I always appreciated having you around, and I always asked about you when I was not at home.

Princess, in closing, you’ll always be in our hearts, no matter what happens. No matter where we go, no matter what we do, you’ll be watching us every step of the way. I’ll never forget you, Princess, and neither will anyone else in this family. We’ll take good care of Ruff for you.
