I've realized that special dogs—perhaps even especially ones who've died some time ago and were still fresh in the memory—will always have a place here and in the heart.
Artie Boy was found as a diseased and very ill puppy in Los Angeles's fabled MacArthur Park, but as an insouciant little pup, he had no idea of his perilous plight. We took him in a cardboard box to the vet, who said he had never seen such infection of the skin of the ears, eyes and muzzle. Arthur healed quickly, but those scars remained his entire life.
Art outlasted a couple of LTR's and he acquired a 'vocabulary' of understanding almost 60 words and terms for things and activities around the studio (yes, Art was a photo studio loft dog).
The picture I've posted here of "Artie" is actually a painting I did of him for art class. It was one Of the first pictures I ever painted, and Art must have been my muse to produce art . . . this painting is very true to his look and captures his spirit very well I think. I love you Art! As on his epitaph, "I will never forget you."
