On July 30, 2011, a wonderful dog joined his adopted canine brother Eddy in doggy heaven.

Brutus was more than just a dog to the Thompson family; he was a brother, companion, walking partner, and an all around joy to have. He loved treats, baths, (and the "towel massages" that came with them) animal toys, car rides, cheese, walks, the local dog park, outdoor restaurants, vegan cookies, stealing steak from the kitchen counter, and Animal Planet. Brutus is survived by his "mama" Connie, his "bubba" Lucas, and his "wiwa" Kelly. Brutus will be will be laid to rest in Carencro, Louisiana.

When Brutus came into the Thompson home in 2001, he was a puppy that could fit into the palm of one's hand. He quickly grew into dog that thought he was still as lightweight as the puppy he once was. Brutus was a well-mannered, protective dog that didn't like closed doors and was a quick learner; one couldn't have a bad day when Brutus was around.

Along with being friendly with humans, Brutus was also a friend to other animals of both the feline and canine variety. He got along with just about every animal he met, but sometimes it was just a matter of tolerance. (Sparky ring a bell?)

Spoiled rotten, and not ashamed of it, Brutus was the grandchild his human mother never had. It wasn't anything for him to sit next to her on the sofa, or squeeze his way into a snug spot just to be next to her. He would "borrow" a pillow or even a body part to use as a head rest, and he loved getting an ear and nose massage. Brutus even stood out at the vet's office when he would sit where the pet owners would, never on the floor like the other animals.

Loved by many friends of his family members, Brutus was a joy to dogsit, even if he scratched up paint on a fence door, knocked down glassware on a coffee table, or hogged the bed when he stretched out his long limbs. He was a dog that could easily forgive one his or her faults, and he loved those he knew unconditionally.

His family will miss his pounce, his wagging tail which could be vicious if it accidentally smacked one in the face, and the knowing looks he would give, almost as if he were communicating with you. Brutus was an amazing dog and can never be replaced. He will be greatly missed.
