Tazz

Age 9, June 29, 2001 - August 19, 2010

While he lives cherished in our memories, he is never far away.

Tazz was born 4 months before our oldest son in 2001. They were raised together and became best friends. He was never a barker but this one morning when he was about 18 months old he would not stop barking nor growling until we would go and see what was going on. Our son had put a broken peice of a night light in his mouth. How did he know this was dangerous? We will never know but he may have saved out sons life that day. That is only one of the great things our Tazz had brought us.

On Sunday August 8, 2010 Tazz starting limping from his back leg. As the limping was not getting any better we took him to the vet. They did x-rays on his hip and leg but saw nothing wrong. They gave him some pain killiers but that did not help. He just got worse. By the Saturday he was starting to lose mobility of his other back leg as well. We were by then supporting our 160lbs Dane by his back hips to bring him outside to do his business. The hardest part was that he was still as happy as ever and fully aware of what was going on. On Wednesday night he didn't even try to get up for us to help him go outside to relieve himself, he did it lying down on his bed. To us that was his way of telling us to let him go. The next morning we went back to the vet and they told us that we should let him go in peace. That was the hardest decision we have ever had to make. It has been 1 year today and we still deeply miss him.
