In Memory of our beloved Molly. Our hearts are breaking with the lost of you.

Nickname: Molly Wolly, Wiggle Tail, Baby Girl, Little Woman,

Our little Molly almost died at 3 1/2 months old of 75% kidney failure. The vet didn't want to put her to sleep because she was so alert. He tried a form of kidney dialias on her and she came out of it. I had to give her fluids all her life starting out every 7 days and finally was down to every 4 days. At the end I was having to give it to her every other day. The little thing would lay as still as could be and never even flinched when I inserted the needle in her upper neck area. She also had digestive problems and in the last year and half it got worse and she was always throwing up. I finally the last couple months of her life started giving her baby food and she was doing good on that. On June 14th she came down sick and we took her to the vet and her kidney count was about 150 and should have been abt. 29. Thing was that all the other counts that should have been high were all normal. She ran a full bag of fluids through her and we brought her home and thought we would lose her during the night, but she started coming around. In a couple days she was up running around and the vet was puzzled about it. I told her Molly had a strong will and she believed that. I was wondering if she was "in the eye" of a storm and if things would go wrong with her once again. She was like a 3 yr. old for about 3 1/2 weeks and wanted to take walks which she hadn't wanted to do for over a year and then all of a sudden she started holding up her back leg and couldn't walk and it started getting worse and worse and then she couldn't get up from a sitting postion. Finally both legs and hips wouldn't work on her. The vet gave her a big dose of steriods as a last thing to try and for about 24 hrs. she could get up, but was all hunched up in the back trying to walk. She went right back to not being able to get up and it started getting worse and worse for her. We had to carry her out to potty and help her stand up and sometimes she fell over and we would have to stand her back up. She was also getting to where if you touched her back end she yelped or would bite at you. My husband didn't want to have her put down and neither did I but I sat with her 24/7 and saw how bad she was and I couldn't stand it. Finally I told him we had to think of her and not ourselves and made an appt. to take her in and have her put to sleep. That was one of the hardest things I have ever had to do. Molly reached up and gave me a kiss and I told her to give dad one and she did and shortly after that she died in my husband's arms. We drove her to a pet crematory and had a private cremation. It was 4 weeks Thursday and I can't stop crying or sobbing all the time about her. Everywhere I look or go I see things she did. Because Molly almost died at a young age and what she went through caused her to have severe seperation anxiety and couldn't be alone. If I wasn't with her my husband was. Most of the time it was me 24/7 for 9 1/2 yrs. She was a very good dog. I taught her when she was little "no bark" and unless someone was around or another dog went by she never really barked. She never tore up anything when she was a pup or as she aged. She also never pottied in the house. She would get antsy if she thought you wouldn't get her outside quick enough to do her duty!! The only thing she loved to do is if you had a kleenex or paper towel she would grab it and run into the living room and shred it up in nothing flat. I would say "give me that" and she would grab some of it and run and tear on it and we did that as a game! The day we had her put to sleep when I came home I took out her blanket out of the cage next to my bed and out fell a small piece of paper towel she had torn and carried in there when I was chasing her. It is now inside the picture frame with her picture. We have a mini-van and she always rode in the front bucket seat. If my husband was with us I sat in the back bucket seat and Molly had the front seat! Now it kills me to drive somewhere and see that empty seat next to me. Molly was a beautiful dog. She was black and white and had such pretty markings. My husband and I both wonder what happened to her and will never know. The vet said we could have sent her to a vet school and had an MRI, but we didn't want to do that to her. She also said they could do explorary surgery on and we also didn't want to do that to her. So many mean bad dogs out there and God takes our precious little Molly. Doesn't seem right. How does one get over losing a little dog that was "our life"???? Now that cold weather is upon us again I think about if Molly was with us she would have her sweat shirt on! She was cold blooded and had several sweat shirts and coats and always wanted them on to go outside!!
