Lila

Age 9, December 25, 2001 - December 25, 2010

To my beloved pup, Lila. I love you so much. -Katie-

Lila was my best friend in the whole world. She helped me get through my teenage years of my life. She was such a sweet dog. Very protective of her loved ones. She came to me one christmas morning in 2001 when I was 10 years old. Shes been my best pal ever since. She would chase me around the house, she would follow me into every single room, even the bathroom. She would always walk with me and sleep with me. When no one was around she was there. Since Im a twin, my sister ofcourse got a puppy that same christmas morning. So when I wasnt there, Lila always had a friend.

I miss the times when I would come home from school and she would already be at the door waiting for me to come in and then both my sister and I would take them for a nice walk through the woods in the back of our house. Lila was always the leader of the group. She always had to be ahead of everyone. She loved to swim. even in the winter. Then finally as I turned 18, i graduated from High School and was getting ready to leave for College was the most depressing day of my life. I was leaving my home, my mother, my twin sister. And i was leaving Lila.

Everytime when i came home for visits, Lila would be the most lively pup ive ever seen. even at 8 years old. But everytime i came home, the happiness and liveliness seemed to be diming every single time i came and left. Until around Christmas of my first semester when exams were over and I arrived home, Lila wasnt the same dog. She seemed much older. She wasnt jumping or barking, she didnt push me over like she usually did. And I didnt know what was happening.

Everyday seemed to get worse and more worse. She was vomiting everywhere, wetting herself constantly until about 3 days before christmas I finally took her to the vet. After her diagnosis, they said she was having problems with her kidneys. So they gave us medication for it and we left. She could never keep it down though since she was always vomiting. She wouldnt eat or drink anything. And Lila has always been a pretty above healthy dog. So we took her back the next day. The doctor said they she needs fluids in her body so we left her there for several hours while they tried to get some fluids in her. When I went to pick her up, she seemed more perky than she has been. So i was a bit relieved. But that night. It didnt get better. She got even worse. She knew she was going to die. I was hoping and praying she would make it though the night. So i kissed her and let her be where she wanted to be. She roamed around the house all night and visted everyone. She managed to make to the basement to see my brother for a while. then back up to see my mom and stayed with her for a while. then went to see my sister and her pup, Lucy which was Lilas sister. Then she came to me around 5 am and manged to jump on my bed and lay with me for a little while. I stayed up with her until she left. then i went back to sleep.

Two hours later my sister woke me screaming. Telling me that it was Lila. So that christmas morning, I rushed out of my bed and into our dining room where she layed breathing her last. I screamed and cried and just held her so tight until I felt her last heartbeat.

She was given to me on Christmas morining 2001 and was left me that Christmas morning at 7am 2010. She was the best dog I will ever have. I couldnt have asked for anyone else. She will be missed very much. Even to this day I stilll cry. But the unconditional Love that she game me and that all of our pets give to us, is a really special gift, that I will always cherish.
