When I'd hear of people who would freak out over losing a pet I'd always roll my eyes and talk about how it's just an animal. Having lived and loved Wolfie has made me realize that they are so much more than that. It meant so much for him to be a part of our lives and he taught me the type of love that I've never imagined possible. It was unconditional and I sometimes felt unworthy of him. The guilt is eating me up at the thought of how much I could have done to change what happened. He was just so young. But I know that I shall cherish every moment we shared and so will everyone else who ever met him. So many people came into my house with expectations of what he would be and he broke all of that down and endeared himself to everyone he met. He had such a large personality and so much love to give. No matter how much you cursed and muttered and yelled at him, he still loved us all despite our flaws and made me look at myself a little bit differently. I could only hope I was worthy of his love. Wolfie brought light and laughter in our lives at a time when we couldn't give it to each other and his innocence was so refreshing and contagious that it made us smile through the darker moments. I feel like my soul has been ripped apart but I know his memories will go on. Now he can be free to run and sniff as much as he wants without being dragged along on a leash. Thanks for coming into my life when you did Wolfie. You will forever be missed.
UPDATE: It's been some while since we lost you and you are still so very missed. No day goes by when you aren't remembered or spoken about in this house. We still remember the laughter and love you brought to us and the way you owned our hearts. We recently brought home another pup, not to replace you because no one could ever do that, but because you allowed us to realize we had so much love to give. He's nothing like you, but then again no other dog will ever be. But I know you will watch over him and keep us all safe because you were super guard dog. Thanks for being here with us in spirit even though your body is gone. I forever love you.
