Nickname: PRECIOUS BABY GIRL

I have really been struggling with what to write here. Are there really words that can describe just how precious our girl was. How much we loved her, how we will miss her forever? Probably not. Tomorrow it will be a week since she left us. Maybe in time I will know what to say, but right now I still am dead inside.

4/5/12- Still struggling with the right words to describe this amazing girl. She was our best friend, she watched our kids go from teenagers to adults, she was the first doggy kisses to our grandbabies, she loved and watched over us all. She came into our lives as a pup, she has always been the best behaved dog. You never had to tell her no more then once. Her intelligence and ability to comprehend human language was astounding. Even at 12 years old, she never lost her ability to learn. My husband taught her new tricks and played games with her and show her once, and she never forgot. She was that way with people too. If someone came by that she had met once many years prior, she remembered them and acted as if she had found a lost best friend. She was so amazing.
Last July Lilly was diagnosed with Squamish Cell Carcinoma (not sure if that is spelled right) It was a tumor growing out of her right ear. Our wonderful amazing vet removed the tumor and we hoped for the best. But it grew back quicker and was just horrible. We knew our time was getting limited. Lilly at 12 was in excellent health besides the tumor, That made this so much harder. This cancer very rarely metastasizes anywhere, usually stays contained to the tumor. So as this tumor continued to grow, she felt great. Besides being irritating to her, she was in no pain,and not sick at all. About 2 months ago, she started bleeding from the tumor, back to vet and she removed it for the second time. Lilly was having a hard time healing due to the tumor killing the tissue around it, but we got through it. And we were amazed that the tumor was barely growing back at all. Lilly felt great, we all felt great. The night of Mar 26th was a usual normal night at our house. Doggy snack and game time, bedtime came, and off to bed we went, Lilly's bed was beside my side of the bed. Around 5 am my husband woke me up and told me Lilly had passed peacefully away in her sleep. I thank God for that, as we have since found out the Tumor had entered her inner ear and brain and caused a aneurysim, but it was quick and painless and peaceful. If that would not of happened it would of been a matter of days before she would of started having horrific pain and suffering. Then we would of had to make THE decision. Shes buried in our yard with a beautiful plant and a solar powered butterfly that lights up at night and changes many colors. It's beautiful just like her. I hope she can see it from where we know she is.
