Linus joined Tula and I at Thanksgiving time. I named him Linus after Charlie Brown's Thanksgiving Special because he was so sad and so pathetic when he first joined us. He had traveled from the shelter to a petsmart and was so scared in the van he had peed all over himself. He was so afraid of people he had to either be dragged around or carried. So I carried him. No one wanted to adopt him. I took him home that night and introduced him to his new big sister, Tula.
He spent the first day curled up in the corner of my couch scared to come near either of us.
He slept that night buried under my blankets in bed and sometime that night, came up and gave me a kiss on the nose. I knew he would always be my baby boy at that moment.
In the time we had him, he came so far. He grew to trust people more and was happy. I know he had a happy time with me and I am so grateful that he had a much better life with me than if I had not found him in 2010 at the rescue group.
Linus loved his big sister Tula. They wrestled every day and he followed her everywhere. He loved squeaky tennis balls and cheese. He loved to lie in the sun and eat the grass. He loved other dogs and lying in my lap on the couch.
Linus was such a great boy. I will miss him forever and I will love him forever. I hope he is somewhere warm and sunny. I hope he is playing fetch and running with other dogs. I hope he never has to take another bath and I hope he has as many squeaky tennis balls and pieces of cheese his sweet little heart can handle.
I love you baby boy. Tula and I miss you every minute.
5.7.12: Happy Birthday Baby Boy! Today you would be 2. I am so sorry that you are not here to celebrate with Tula and I. I would have loved to play fetch with you in the backyard and treat you to some american cheese. I take comfort in the fact that you are lying in the sun somewhere and playing with all your brand new doggy friends! I miss you and I love you and I wish you were here with me. We'll see you again soon, buddy bear.
