We Love And Miss Our Best Friend

Our Jake was just a good ole family dog,He loved our granddaughter Camryn, 3years old and she loved him, everywhere she went he was right with her.And Abby she is our little boss lady,those two were together all the time, he tried to keep up with her but she is alot younger.To be a Lab,he did not like to swim and it upset him very bad when our other dog Abby would get in the pool, that's about the only time he would get upset.He loved to play tug of war with Abby, Abby would win everytime.To be 12 he was a very healthy dog, sore joints some days but that was it.I guess that's why I just can't let go of him.He would just lay around and roll around in the yard,loved chasing rocks, ball's anything you could throw he would go after it.Saturday,March 29,2012 there he was laying on our hill just like he always did, we had the window open so Camryn could stand up there and talk to him,,he looked and acted like he always did,so alittle while later,we went out to fill the bird feeders and he was'nt at his spot, and Abby came running past me and Camryn and went into the woods,came back out and just sit there so we walked over to see what she was up to and thats when I saw Jake laying in the woods,breathing so hard so I called my son's to come over,took Camryn back to the house to stay with poppa,ran back to Jake and saw blood on his side,my boys came flying up,we could'nt see any marks on him so they started moving a little bit of hair at a time and they found a very small bullet hole,no vet's will see you here on the weekend,we tried to get his vet but they said we had to go to Charlotte,one hour away,we got him loaded in the car and I took off,called the er vet to tell him so they could be ready when we got there.Jake started doing so good he was sitting up looking out the window and we were almost at the vet and he lay down and rolled over and I guess the bullet moved,he started doing very bad I had the vet back on the phone,he said he would be in the parking lot with a table,was maybe 2 minutes away,before I could stop my car he quit breathing, the vet got him and took him back to start CPR but it was to late.So they got him ready for me to take him home to be buried, they also made me a garden stone with his paw print and name on it.They were really great..That was a very long ride home that day.I wish so hard to find out who shot him or was it an accident, guy's were in the woods shooting that day,,it's hunting land..not knowing what happen is really bad and if a vet here would have seen him maybe he would be sleeping with Abby tonight or if I could have got to the vet 5 or 10 min earlier..Just knowing all that makes it so much harder. Our neighbors love Jake and Abby, they have them spoiled as bad as we do, they also are very upset about losing our Jake..We all love and miss that Big Ole Yellow Lab,, Our Jake
