Snoopy...Mom is so heartbroken with the unexpected loss of you, my sweet boy. It was Christmas morning and such a pretty day outside. You, Baxter and Roxie all joined me on a short road trip to spend the holiday with Robyn and her family. I let you outside and nobody knew that Robyn's dog escaped from her pen and attacked you. I have never been so upset and scared for you in my life and I feel horrible that this happened. After surgery, I know you were in pain, but I had so much hope that you were going to be OK. After 48 hours, I really thought things were looking better and I decided to visit you in the hospital. You tried to stand up for me when you saw me and gave me one little tail wag even though you were hurting. I had tears streaming down my face, but I told you I was coming back soon to take you home and it would be OK. You looked relaxed. It made me sad to see you in pain, but I felt in a few more days you would be coming home. I just loved you so much and wanted to take your pain away. I left the vet and had only been gone 10 minutes when I received the heartbreaking phone call that you had gone into cardiac arrest and were not responding to CPR. I rushed back to the vet only to find out that the attempt to save you was unsuccessful. I was so upset and stayed with you about an hour just stroking your face and talking to you...hoping you would come back to life. I would give anything to change things and have you here with me. I feel like my decision to take you with me on Christmas Day is the reason you are not with me today. Mom feels so bad and guilty and wishes I could go back in time. I miss your quirky ways of how every movement made you jump and your big, brown eyes looking at me. You were so happy and I loved how you were always snorting with happiness. I love the way you smiled at me. I will miss you always until I see you again at the Rainbow Bridge.
