Nickname: Honeypuppy, sweet girl, babygirl

When I brought you home, you weighed 12 ounces and could curl up in the palm of my hand. That first night when you refused to sleep in that box and kept cllmbing into bed with me, you made your way into my heart and you stayed there for 16 years. From that night on, you slept in bed with me. You were there when I met my love. I was such a crappy judge f people, but you knew. You loved him from the start. I watched you and knew he was a good person.

You had attitude to spare and I loved that about you so much. You were fearless.

I knew nothing about being a dog mom; you trusted me and taught me. You started off as a cat and learned how to be a dog.... You were only 15 pounds, but you ruled the house. You kept the cats in line after you got over your false pregnancy. I still laugh when I think about them stealing your "baby" and you'd scream so loud it sounded like a human child. You were grief stricken that your baby was gone. For a solid week that little rubber dachshund dog toy went everywhere with you. You tried to feed it and get it to drink; you wouldn't rest until it was in bed between us. When you went outside, you gave it to me to "babysit" but as soon as you came back in, you were back to it. You would have made such a wonderful mom. You were with me when the rest of world walked away. You showed me what unconditional love and affection really was.

I honestly didn't deserve you. You were the bet dog I could have ever hoped for. I can only hope I was a good a human to you as you were to me. When I found out that human children weren't a possibility, you became my baby.

I still feel guilty for how you died. i took you there for the end you deserved and instead, you were practically tortured. What should have taken less than 10 minutes and a peaceful passing, it took 2 hours and I couldn't even hold you like I promised you. You were so tired, but you were determined to be there as long as I needed you. In the end, I had to do the right thing for you, no matter how much it broke my heart. I owed you that much.

There will never be another one like you. i miss you every day and I still cry. You will always be my babygirl.
