He was loved by all who came into contact with him.

Nickname: Bubs, Tater Head, Daddys Big Boy

I got Sampson from a puppy mill, in February of 2000, he had just turned 4 weeks old, and then was the protector that he would turn out to be later in his life.

From the time we brought him home there was something special about him, he was fun loving and strictly the filled the Great Dane stories that have been told in years passed, a regular couch potato.
Until it came to the kids, Sampson was introduced to the first grandchild in December of 2001, I called him and our other 2 dogs into the kitchen and set the pumpkin seat on the floor and said" Kids this is Kobee, she is a baby and your job is to protect her from now on, well Sampson took that job seriously and from that day forward he spent the rest of his life watching over the 20 grandchildren that we wound up having before his passing, and he loved every minute that he had with these children and they enjoyed him also, sometimes he was used as a pillow to lay on the floor on and watch TV, other times he was outside trying to catch the football some would be throwing which if he caught it the game over, as he would bite right through it not knowing that he just ruined a good foot ball, But, more then that he was my most true and trusted friend, we would go on long walks at night just
he and I and we would talk or at least I would about my days events, he would listen and when he knew I was in need of it he would stop and give his Daddy some lovins. He always knew when I needed lovins, and he was always there to give it to me. He was also the protector of his domain, we live in a subdivision and no one would bother our house not knowing if he would bite or not, every so called rough neck in the neighborhood, would cross the street when they walked past our house, for fear he would jump the fence and take after them,

In July of 2009 he was diagnosed with Stage Mass Cell Cancer and from the biopsy that was taken given just 4 months from my family vet. I told him if you trust Daddy , I will not let this dreadful thing take you from me, so I contacted an Herblist in my home town and started him on a regime of herbs and elixers, homeopathic medicines for cancer I hired a
Reiki Master to come and do a reading on him, to give me some idea of what I needed to do as Chemo and Radiation was not going to be and option for him. sop for the next 18 months every day he was given the homeopathic remedies and he took them like the true
hero he was. In March of 2011 I had him tested and his blood tests and the other tests showed I had put the cancer in remission, he showed no signs of cancer in his blood stream, but, that is when I found out I would have more trouble that would lead to his demise in about 6 months down the road. I found out from the tests I had taken that his
hips were slowly deteriorating and it would not be long before he would not be able to walk or function from the back half.
On September 29th, 2 days after my birthday, he collasped in the yard he was out with me doing yard work, and he never walked again after that. He went to cross the Rainbow Bridge on October 1st, 2011 at 9:45 am.
And I miss him so, he was my best friend.
