Gone but Never forgotten

Nickname: BETSY

You were always there to brighten everyone's day. There is a void in the family now that you are gone. We all miss you terribly. But we know that you are in a better place now and you will no longer be in pain and have to suffer. There has been nights since you left before we go to bed. That I think we have forgotten to call you in for the night and then I remember. You were such a good calm relaxed dog you would always protect our new additions to the family. I remember when Mark, Emma, and Emilee were born you would always sit right next to them wherever they were you were. Wherever they slept you would be sleeping right next to their bed. Even when you got really sick and could barely move when Matthew was born you still protected him. Where he slept or where he was is right where you were. As you got older and older you started having trouble hearing and seeing things. I remember right before we had to put you down when you got so sick you had not ate anything in four days. You couldn't even move you stayed in the one place in the house the entire time. The day we had to put you down you couldn't move at all your tounge was hanging out of your mouth you couldn't even keep your head up. You could tell you were having trouble breathing. it was the saddest thing and any time you moved you would bark or just howl because you were in so much pain. It was so sad it looked like you had had a sezure or something. We did not want to have to put you down but we thought it was what was best we didn't want you to have to suffer anymore. But there is now a void in the family that will never be able to be replaced. We went to the vet and had you put to sleep. But you are buried in our backyard and we have put a little cross out there that says Betsy on it in remembrance of you.
