My beautiful, loyal Boston boy

My first boy dog, my big buddy. I sit here missing and loving you so much.

When I got home yesterday I greeted all of my babies by name, all four of you, except there were only three now. I said your name out loud before I even realized, and the weight of it crushed me. Always the healthiest of the troop, but the first to leave us.

Our tough, proud guy that we never had to worry about, taken suddenly. For you, my love I'm sure it was not soon enough, with a herniated/burst disk that left you unable
to walk within 5 days time.

I am so sorry you had to endure the pain that surely caused you. The stoic baby who would never acknowledge pain in any way, hid it so well that the vet said it was perhaps a pinched nerve and sent you home. X-rays two days later told a different story. We wanted to try to give you a chance to recover and took you home with more pain meds, muscle relaxers, etc.

But, you made the decision easy for us 2-1/2 days later when you told us to let you go. Thank you for leaving no doubt that keeping you with us any longer would be for us, not for you.

I hope you heard me talking to you Roc, you were not alone. I will love and miss you until you hear me say one more time......

5/20/14 - Hello sweet guy. I wish you were still here physically, but that is selfish. I would not wish any suffering on you, you did not deserve that. The years just went by so, so fast. You are home again, your ashes tucked away for now. But, really you never left, you never will. You're always with me, you're always my Rocco Rocco Man.

5/30/14 - Hi Rocco. I miss you buddy. I looked at a picture of you a few nights ago, and you being gone hit me again like it just happened. But, sometimes it feels like so very long since I've seen you. Be your brother's guardain today, okay? I know he was a pest sometimes, you'd give me the look that said "can't you make him stop?". I'd like to keep him here with us for as long as he can stay, so pull any strings you can. I love you Roc, you're such a good boy.

6/5/14 - Just over a month since you left, and I am still so sad, I miss you my big guy. You've been gone longer than you were actually in our new house. Four short weeks was all the time you were there with us. I took out your ashes on your one month anniversary so I could tell you what a good boy you are. I love you Rocco, and I think of you every day. Momma loves ya.

6/23/14 - I've been thinking about you so much Rocco, and that still makes me tear up. It remians very painful, I love hard and I grieve hard. As I said right after we let you go "As hard as this is, it was worth it". I mean that Rocco, you were SO worth it. I miss you buddy boy, I hope you are happy where you are.

7/14/14 - It's been so long Rocco, I miss you so very much. even with three pups still with me there is that feeling of one missing, a soace that used to be full. Now there is one elss dog bowl, one lesstreat at night, one less. The one who never asked for much, whom was contetn to sit int eh background, who would take what was given but didn't need to eb the focus of attentio. The steady one, the loyal one, the missing one. I didn't realize that one "one" could be so big. I love you Rocco.

9/3/14 - Hello Rocco buddy, boy doIi miss you. Even reminiscing about you makes me weep still. I do think of happy memories, but I know thinking of you may always be tinged with sadness, I accept that. As I said before, you were so worth it. Four months today since you've been gone, wow 1/3 of a year, that is forever. So very very long since I pet you, smelled your smell, or saw you do your bouncy bark. I had some minor surgery that is why I haven't visited in a while. But, I know you know how often I think about you, and how much I love you. Hugs....and a kiss on your head.

0/28/14 Rocco my sweet man, I love ya. I wish I could hug and love on you once more, and tell you not to shake off the love. Where did the time go? The time without you, it has been so very very long. Almost half a year, that is forever. I miss you so much, I'll always love you. Know that I think of you often and hope you are happy. Crossing my fingers I'll get to see you again.

11/3/14 - I love you Rocco. I've missed you terribly for a 1/2 year already. I think about you everyday, kisses sweet man.

11/24 - Hi buddy boy. It is almost Thanksgiving, and I am very thankful I had you in my life. But, I am so sad that you are no longer here. I love you Rocco, always always always buddy.

12/10 - Hello my buddy, you are nearly 12 years old, just a couple more weeks. You only made it to 11yrs. here with us, and I loved every day. I have been wondering if your constant need to lay right next to me, or ON me the last few months was due to you not feeling well and needing to be reassured you were okay and safe. It bugged me then, you constantly moving and jostling, just seeming to not be able to get comfortable. I'd tell you to stay still and settle down....sorry Roc, I didn't know. NOW I am glad, glad you chose me to be with. I still love ya buddy.

12/23/14 - Happy Birthday Rocco. I miss you much, and have been thinking about you so much as your special day approached. It's here now and I wish I could give you a toy for you to destroy!!! Our tough guy, our sweet boy. Know we are all thinking of you, and I'm sending you an extra hug. I love you Roc, I'll see you again someday.

1/30/15 - Hello buddy. Be sure to greet Sonny, he should have arrived about 9:30am today. My friend sent him along, and it made me remember that day....oh how I DO remember. Love ya big guy, I will always. I still think of you everyday

2/24/15 - It has been so long Rocco, so very very very long. I'm still here pal, still thinking of you all the time, still tearing up at times. I still love you, I still miss you, I'll always love you, I'll always miss you.

3/1/15 - Love you, Love you, Love you. 296 days now without you.

6/8/15 - It has been so long, but that does not mean I have not thought about you every day. Your anniversary day was hard, but you know that. We sent Lola on ahead to join you 15 days before your one year anniversary. I hope you and she found each other and are now snuggling, and you are pretending to let her be the boss. Such a good boy, double the weight of your sister, but you always let her think she could beat you up. My two originals, I think of you both every day, and love and miss you madly.
