Well ,As I watch you during your last days I hold on to you for my own selfishness We knew this day would come the doctors told us you were old and these days ahead might be rough well as a Hospice nurse I see Death all to often and find some comfort for others( I Hope) that’s what I was trained to do. I have said goodbye to my family And it is hard to burry your parents And how I miss them ,But the death of a beloved Pet Well …as MY Lady lay dying I wrote this Poem
LADY
You are not just a pet
You are my loving Friend
How can I watch your precious life end.
Right now
My heart heavy with pain
Watching you slip away is more than I can Stand
Ill hold you in my arms like a mother would her child
You still smile at me gentle and mild
My tears now blind me ,My heart is breaking
How Can I be so selfish ,
Not help your suffering end?
I don’t want you to hurt you are my very best friend
I’ll hold your memories close to my heart
Till that time when well no longer be apart.
Go romp the Fields at Rainbow Bridge
For now are time has come to part
And its now with the heaviest of heart,
I will let you go with the dignity you deserve
And I will have to make a brand new start
