Sophie was my naughty little girl that loved everyone. 8 years is way to short of a life. So unfair.

Nickname: Soph

Sophie was the sweetest little girl. Always waging her tail right up to the very end. She had her naughty nature rummaging through the garbage or pulling toilet paper off the roll and pulling it through the house. Her sister Olivia is missing her as are we. The house is so quiet without her loud snoring.

It was a heart murmur that was diagnosed a few years ago that we thought was stable and not progressing. Then a few months ago she started to cough and the vet found that her murmured had worsened, heart enlarged and concerned about her slipping into congestive heart failure. More meds were added and she seemed to get better for awhile. Then the coughing started again and coming home one night to her breathing heavy and feeling so uncomfortable she could not lay down. Then a late night trip to the emergency vet and discovery that her heart was more enlarged and lungs full of fluid. She had been in such distress that night and even though they thought there was a chance with oxygen theropy and mass diuretics that she could be stabilized. However after cost estimates and considering how she had suffered that night, it seemed unfair to put her through all that to have her likely relapse in a few months. So we let her go. Hardest thing to do since I lost my Charlie nine years ago. Cavalier King Charles are a great breed. So friendly, loyal, loving and the best friend you have ever hoped for. However, bad breeding has led to early death from heart valve issues along with a long list of potential other disorders. So unfair.

I miss you Sophie. Our lives will never be the same. My heart is broken.
