Nickname: PETER PAN, BIG GIRL
Marley was my companion from the day I brought her home. She was a stray dog when I found her. Actually, I didnt even find her, a co-worker did. She was off in the middle of the street and on his lunch break he almost ran her over. When he brought Marley into the store I couldnt resist her. She was the cutest shade of golden brown with a dark brown nose. I held her the entire day and never let her go. She would fit in my purse so I would take her everywhere with me until she out grew my purse. It was so hard for me to train her in everything because I did not want to be mean to her. She learned her name very quick, where to potty, sit and lay so that was good enough for me. I would even take her with me to work because i did not want to leave her alone so she sat in the breakroom all day, which she loved because she would be getting attention from all my co-workers through out the day. Marley was so friendly. I know everyone says that about their dog but Marley really was. She loved to lick and be rubbed. I think that was her favorite pasttime. Well it was always just Marley and me so we were very attached. She would follow me around the house all day. If I was doing dishes she layed at my feet until I moved. If I went into the restroom she layed outside with her nose under the door. When I went downstairs to watch tv, she layed next to me. And when we went to sleep she slept under the bed on my side. That was the weirdest thing she did was sleep under the bed. It was fine the first few months while she was small enough but then she got big and could barely fit but it did not stop her because she found a way to get in and out from under the bed. I loved to watch her wiggle out. She soon learned to sleep right next to me on the floor rather then under the bed. As she grew bigger she grew a little patch of white fur right in the middle of her chest. Her ears also grew so big and they were always pointing up like she was listening to me. Marley and me had a routine everyday. She would always wake up before me and sit in the wndow sill and stare outside. That was one of her favorite things to do. When she would notice me starting to wake up she would come and put her nose on my pillow as to let me know she was awake and I should be too. We had this thing with her nose. I would ask her where her nose is and she would stick it up in the air and i would touch it and say nose. It was cute that she knew her own nose. So in the morning when she would stick her nose in my face it kinda started our day. So then I would get up and we would head downstairs to the backyard. Marley knew what that meant, Breakfast. She would race downstairs and as soon as I got there she would start doing circles around me until I reached the door. It was so funny watching her be that excited. My favorite parts of the day were when I fed her. She would do these funny little dances then start jumping on her back legs, it was adorable. I enjoyed spending my days with her. She understood me when I talked to her. I loved that she would follow me around the house all day. I would leave the back door open all day so she could go out and do her buisness when needed or if she just wanted to lay out in the sun. She loved the sun. She would lay on he back with her legs in the air like she was a sexy supermodel. I have plenty of pictures of her sleeping in the backyard. She could never just lay on her stomach, I would always catch her in some awkward position so I enjoyed taking pictures of that. Marley was a very simple and silly dog. She sometimes had a mind of her own, which I loved. She sometimes seemed very human to me. She was very nosy, like her owner. Well since she was always in the window sill her tail would always be wagging. Her tail wagged like the top of a hellicopter. I used to tease her and ask if she was trying to fly away. Her head would be moving with the cars that went by. She wanted to be outside so bad all the time. When she would see me go for her leash she would do her little dances. She also liked to gallop like a horse which was odd when I first noticed it but I knew she was just so excited. Her favorite toy was anything that was stuffed and made nose. Everytime i bought her a stuffed noisy toy she would play with it until she got all the stuffing out and got the little part inside that made the nose. It was so funny cause she wouldnt put the toy down until she was finished. She was very smart. She knew where all her things were in the house. She knew what her treat jar looked like. She knew the sound of her food bag. She knew what it meant when i went by her leash. She also knew when it was bed time. Once she figured she didnt fit under the bed anymore was when I bought her a doggy bed. When we were done watching tv or doing whatever we were doing downstairs I would turn off the lights and say "time for bed" and she would bolt upstairs and being laying on her bed when I got upstairs. She would sleep the entire night through just like me. I loved that I didnt have to babysit her. She knew what to do when to do it and she always knew what I meant. I didnt have her as long as I would have liked but we had a really great relationship. We had so many good times together. There were many times that I felt like I had to do so many things for her because she was a stray dog and I didnt want her to feel that way when I brought her home. I thought I was gonna have to show her and teach her how to be a house dog and help break alot of habbits but now that she is no longer with me I realize the big picture, she did that for me. I wasnt helping her or bringing her in to my home (even though I did, but she is a dog and she would have survived) she brought me into her heart and showed me new things. I will always love my first dog my best companion, Marley Ann.
