Nickname: Mindy

Mindy Lou was a gift from a cruel vicious person who threw her out on our front lawn. She tumbled end over end and landed in our hearts. After discovering that the skinny shivering frightened pup had mange, worms and hadn't eaten in days, we took her to the Vet's for a checkup and treatment. We already had two dogs, Duffy and Ripley but just decided, what's one more?

Mindy had a stroke during her spay procedure and lost her eyesight as a result. But no problem, the cats (of which we have a goodly number) took over the job as seeing eye cats. The indoor cats and the outdoor cats adored her and seemed to sense her handicap. They would lead her about by gathering around her and moving as one, escort her about the very large yards.

Last Wednesday night I noticed that our beloved fur baby was not herself. She lay on her bed and sighed heavily. She didn't vocalize any pain but still I called and made an appointment with our beloved Vet for the next day. Just to be on the safe side. The appointment was for 4 pm unless she seemed to be in pain, in which case we were to come immediately.

At 1:30 pm Thursday with her beloved Pyewackit, the Siamese and Sonny the Russian Blue lying beside her, Mindy crossed over. How fitting that we were all there for her final goodbye. The Outside cats have been sleeping on her gravestone. I see their paw prints all aroumd her grave. She lies in the Pet Cemetery with her beloved Ariel, the Queen of the Pride, and the other cats who have gone on before her. She will be missed so much. I blog about our pets so frequently in my blogsite Holding Patterns , and now there will be one less to talk about, but our love for her will go on.
