Nickname: Skee

Damascus was the sweetest, silliest dog. He made us smile on a daily basis. He was an accomplished counter surfer and his last major surf was the frozen pepperoni pizza that was waiting to put in the oven.

Damascus also worked as a donation dog for the local animal shelter, APL. In only 19 months, he earned over $2600.

Although he was 10 when he died yesterday, many people did not realize his age because he acted so young and athletic. Only could mom and dad notice his subtle signs of growing older.

We are still in shock over his passing. We don't know what was ailing him and many doctors between Springfield and Champaign also struggled to help him. Time was not on our side. Little did we know that when I took him to U of I on Tuesday, that he would never return home.

We hope that the memories of his helpless body laying on the ICU floor fade with time and are blanketed by all the happy memories of the precious moments we had with him.

We miss him dearly.
