The Face of an Angel - before he was an angel

Nickname: Frittsy

Fritts was a beautiful, tiny ball of joy the first time I saw him. He melted the heart of everyone he ever met. He was so smart that he was "paper trained" after the first time I took him to the paper and easily transferred to "pottying" outside. There was snow on the ground when he first began 'pottying' outside so, when the snow began to melt, he searched for the tiniest patches of snow to 'lift his leg' until he figured out that it was okay to potty on the grass.
He loved playing with children. He would run around the back yard entertaining himself for hours on end. In the afternoons, the school bus would drop elementary school children on the sidewalk behind our backyard. Fritts loved to greet them and welcomed their attention and affection. I think it was his favorite time of day.
My favorite time of day was early morning when I first woke up. Fritts ended up sleeping with us every night and he would snuggle up to his "mommy." When I would wake up, immediately I would pick up Fritts and lay him against my heart and stroke his head and back for a long time before I would even think about getting out of bed. I loved loving my Fritts.
Of course, Fritts slowed down the last couple of years, sleeping several hours a day. But he was always my "shadow." He would follow me everywhere and would greet me at the door each time I returned home, most of the time waiting for me to arrive.
I miss him so much and always will. I picture him running, playing and happy though I know he misses me as much as I miss him.
