My Sweet,Sweet boy, I Miss You so Much

Barkley came into my life as a small black bundle of fur with 4 small legs. The very first time he saw me he barked at me. The next morning we started our 16year love affair. After one kiss from him he had my heart.
He loved to go for rides where he would put his head out the sun roof, I think he actually smiled at the feeling of the wind in his ears. He loved to sit in the sun, he loved to sleep in the sun,he would follow the sun around the house when he was inside and lay in it until the sun would go down. He loved sleeping on the back of my couch while trying to stay awake so he could bark at the dog next door.
He loved to go out and bark at anything that moved. Once he got older he loved to sleep.
Since 2005 he was my only company ,he went through a divorce with me and after that it was just the 2 of us. Where ever I went he went. He loved his moms boiled chicken,when he would smell it boiling he would bark until I sat his plate down.
He was the sunshine in my day, He was the love in my life. He never asked for anything but love. He made my life make sense. He loved to go for walks and he loved to have his sweater put on because he knew he was going to go for a ride. He Loved to bark at frogs,the frogs would jump and then he would jump. he did so many funny things that he would make you cry from laughing so hard.
He loved Lucky Charms, he would at times get me out of bed in the middle of the night so he could eat more lucky charms.
He and I slept together,when he would get cold he would snuggle against my back, I miss feeling him against my back.
The week before he passed he was fine, he had never been sick a day . Little did I know his kidneys were failing, every symptom of kidney failue is also the same symptom of a dog getting old. The day we went to the vets we only went there for meds for a bladder infection. I left the vets office with my heart broken into a thousand pieces.
Barkleys passing has changed me, I think when you lose someone who loves you and who you loved so much you have no choice but to be a changed person . I will never get over his loss,I will never get over the fact that I am now alone.
Tomorrow he will be gone for 2months, when he was here the longest we were ever apart was 1 day. I am sad, I am lonely and I am so totally heartbroken.
The bond he and I had was a once in a life time bond, I felt his love daily and I pray he felt my love. He was a good boy, he was my sweet,sweet boy. My life will never be the same.

A dog has no use for fancy cars, big homes, or designer clothes. A water log stick will do just fine. A dog doesn't care if your rich or poor, clever or dull, smart or dumb. Give him your heart and he'll give you his. How many people can you say that about? How many people can make you feel rare and pure and special? How many people can make you feel extraordinary?
