Running across the soccer fields
Dozing on the landing
Cuddling with the girls
In the middle of the board game or puzzle
Hiking, camping, asleep under the stars
Woofing at squirrels, doves, and mail carriers
Marking her territory in the neighbors' yards
Proudly positioned on the front porch steps
Protecting her yard, her house and her kids
Wolfing down table scraps
Snapping at bees
Gnawing on rose bushes and occasional rocks
Guarding her soccer ball, paw on top
Snorting at possums and skunks under the deck
Dog massages, backscratching, twisting on the floor
Animal impressions: seals, alligators, lionesses, polar bears
Laying underfoot whenever possible
Always in close contact, always wanting to touch her people
Sneaking licks of lotion
Hair standing atop her back at the sight of other dogs

Chasing butterflies and hummingbirds
Sitting tall and proud, Indian-like in a canoe
Disgruntled about air travel
Forgiving for long road trips
Greenbelt walks and doggie playgroups in Braun Heights
Sliding down the slide at the elementary school playground
A sister, friend, companion and forever part of our family

In death:
Graceful last moments
Loving in every expression
Too weak to move or stand
Suddenly spunky and spry
A last trip to the park with Mom and Dad
Warm hours in the sun under and on top of layers of blankets
Still happy to lick lotion, bark at a squirrel
Grateful for sips of water
Peaceful in her bed
Peaceful by her people
Stubbornly rising and insisting to be a part of it all til the very end...

And her death, quick and assisted, quiet and still.
