Cody, you were my sweet baby boy and I loved you so very much from the first time I saw you!
I wanted an Italian Greyhound badly. Upon searching for one I came across the Italian Greyhound rescue in Florida. I contacted them and soon found out that adopting a pet was like adopting a child. The rescue required a home check, letter of why you want this particular breed and a phone interview. Needless to say when they came for the home check I wanted to make sure they knew how serious I was. They were coming on a Sunday so on Saturday night I headed to Pet Smart to get all of the essentials. This is where the story gets interesting. While looking for a kennel for whatever IG was going to be mine I wasnt really sure of the size. I found an employee and asked, "What size crate do I need for an Italian Greyhound?" She replied, "Are you getting an IG?" "Because I am currently fostering the cutest IG right now, his name is Cody and the IG rescue is coming tomorrow to pick him up. I said, "Really... Because the rescue is coming to my home to do a home check!" Anyway to make a long story short, when the rescue came to my home the next day she had a few pictures of dogs she wanted me to look at...So I looked at her and said, "I hear you are going to pick Cody up today"...and She said, "Oh my Gosh, How did you know that?" So I told her of my encounters at Pet Smart. She quickly decided to send me out to meet Cody as she and I did not feel that it was a coincidence. I am positively sure that Cody was always meant to be my BOY! When I finally met him the first thing I noticed was his adorable long nose! He was only 9 months old and I brought him home that day. What an exciting day for both of us.
Cody was the most lovable, kind hearted, soulful boy. I never thought It was possible to love and connect with an animal in such a deep way. Cody also touched a lot of lives with his great ability to love the way he did. He was the most special animal and I will miss him forever. I feel so blessed that I was chosen to be his human Mom. Its hard to lose such a great friend that has seen me through so many rough times always loving me in his special, soulful way. I miss my straddles! I would lie on my side and my boy would throw his body over the top of me and proceed his attack!! He was the fastest at the dog park too! What a great boy.
I will always hold a special place in my heart for my baby boy.
