His most favorite snacks in the world were marshmallows and rice crispie treats. The last batch I made for him was so good he had rice crispies stuck to his ear, whisker, mane & paw for about two days! Well, until we finally cleaned him up.

Dakota was a special dog. Although he was beautiful and fun, he was stuck up and so stubborn! It wasn’t until the last few years of his life that he came around. He finally wanted and demanded our love and attention, and he got it! He let us cuddle and hold him. He never went into hiding anymore. He really wanted to make the most of the rest of his being in our household and we’re so glad he did!

Some of the best memories we hold from our 15 years with Dakota are; the bike rides we used to take with him sitting in our backpack, which we wore backwards so he could get the fresh breeze of air. The walks we would take when halfway down the block he would try to stop and beg to be picked up. Watching him float away and swim for his life at the lake, mostly before he even touched the water. Seeing him jump and hop around like a bunny in the snow after a massive winter storm, and the cute flakes he would get all over his nose. The horror stories from the ladies who groomed him, haha! The time he fell between the wall and the couch and was stuck there for hours without even barking for help. All the times he fell or rolled off the couch! Especially the couple times he went rolling off the couch through the stair railing and then down the stairs. By the time we got to him, he was up and walking around, pretending like nothing happened! Teasing him as he would turn in 100 circles before he’d lay down. Only to get up another three times to do it all over again before he was actually comfortable. Then going to pet him only to result in his sudden discomfort and requiring him to do it all over again! He was so uptight! He was vicious. He would bark at dogs bigger than him but run from anything smaller. He was funny. He was ours.
