I picked Foxy from the Boone County Animal Shelter in 1996. She turned out to be the perfect dog for me! We had a bond like no other I have ever known. It was like we knew what the other was thinking and feeling. We had so many happy times together.
When she was young, she would jump in bed with me for a bit, but never spend the whole night. The next morning, she would jump in bed with me for a little while, and we would do some lovin'. In a little bit I would say, "You wanna get up?"...."let's get up". and she knew just what I was saying. We would go to the kitchen, and I would say, "Want some breakfast? Let's get your breakfast." She knew what breakfast was. Later, I would often go back to the bedroom to find her on the bed with her head on my pillow. I always made sure she knew that was okay. I would get in the bed with her and gave her some more good doggy lovin'.
One time when we had my jet ski out on the lake, I learned how much Foxy loved me. When I started to ride off and left her on the shore, she barked like crazy. She didn't want me to leave her. So, I went back to get her so she could ride with me. It seemed like she liked it, but I think it was just so she could be with me.
Foxy was a great traveling companion. We made three trips together to Texas and back. I have a little camper that we spent the nights in. She loved sleeping in the camper. She also loved going for walks around the campground loops where we stayed, and when we got to my sister's house, she made herself right at home.
Foxy loved visiting her grandmom and spending time with her. Her grandmom was crazy about her and loved her very much...still does. Her grandmom cooked things for her that she liked and always shared some of her food with her. Grandmom would hide treats for Foxy, and Foxy would come and try to find them.
I used to whisper a secret in Foxy's ear. I told her not to tell. Only she and her grandmom know what it was. Oh well, I don't think she would mind. I whispered, "You're the best dog in the whole world."
We really miss Foxy. We loved her so much. We knew we couldn't keep her forever, but we really wanted to. She is waiting for us to see her again at the Rainbow Bridge. Have fun there, my little Fox, until I see you again.
