Oh my God! You stole our hearts! You were the best foster dog that I ever had.

Nickname: Chappy

You became my foster baby in mid-November 2010. Your "family" for the past 5 years left you at the County Animal Control facility because they did not have time for you. You had a hacking cough when you first came to me. X-rays didn't really show a cause for the cough, but you were put on anitibiotic and cough medicine for a couple of weeks. By mid- December I noticed a sizable lump on the right side of your throat. An aspiration of this lump showed only normal lymph cells. We did another round of anitibiotic to no avail. The lump became larger and another lump appeared on the other side of your throat. Another aspiration was done. This showed lymphosarcoma. This was now early January 2011. Vet said this was pretty advanced and was responsible for the cough. We tried to keep this at bay with Prednisone. Soon all of your external lymph nodes were involved. On the night of 1/28/11, your lungs were filling with fluid. I could not stand to watch you in pain any longer. You were euthanized at the emergency vet at 12:12 a.m. on 1/29/11.

I'm sorry for going into such detail, but I'm disgusted by the people who turn away from their pets when they need them the most. Chappell was a wonderful dog. This is the third foster dog that has died in my care in the past three months. All were given up by their so called loving owners. How can they do this? I cared very much for
each and every one of them, but Chappell was special. He never did anything wrong. I will always remember you, Chappell.

I have fostered 40+ dogs but I am so hurt now that I don't think I can do this any longer.

Things are not the same without you Chappell. I'm thankful for the great last day we had together. Your really seemed to enjoy the ride in the doggie stroller. You got to visit that favorite fire hydrant too! You'll be forever in my heart.

I got your remains yesterday. I have them in a box with your collar and a piece of the paper towel from the roll that you destroyed just days before you passed away. Here's a photo of that box. Love you.
