Your addiction to carrots- one second after the fridge door opened and somebody crunched, you were there! And if I didn’t give you any, or not enough you would scream at me like you were in pain because you loved carrots so much.
When I would eat a carrot muffin and you scratched at my leg constantly for a bite, and I’d swipe the crumbs off the table and you’d devour the floor.
When you were outside and the grass was tall and you hopped like a bunny, your ears would perk up- and then sometimes you’d lie down and bask in the sun.
When I walked through the door, home from school, you ran (sometimes down the stairs) to me, yapping, wagging your tail and kissing me, welcoming home and then yelling at me for leaving you for those few hours.
When I’d leave in the morning and you would stare out the front window as I drove away.
How you used to sit on the steps and rest your head in between the bars, mostly near mom when she was on the computer.
When you sat on the top of the couch in the living room, peering through the window and using your paws to open the blinds. You would bark at passerby-especially those with dogs.
Before Ollie died and you were kind of pals.
How after Ollie died and you and Chester because best friends. When it was cold (and even when it wasn’t) you would get all up in his grill and sidle up right next to him and put your head on his back.
When you’d bark at every dog and sometimes person you’d see when we were in the car, but when face-to-face, either you would slink up to them then yell or run away. Sometimes, you’d make friends though!
That time we were walking and across the street were two dogs that looked exactly like you and you just stared at them, utterly confused.
How long you would bark in the presence of certain strangers- i.e. Trevor’s friends!
Your stinky breath!
Yucky eye-picks.
How your little white feet would get so dirty after a walk.
Your unfortunate poopy-stuck.
The “corn chip” smell you often had.
In the car when you sat on mom’s lap, head upright, your hands on the steering wheel.
In the car when you’d accidentally roll down the windows (we had to put the baby-lock setting on) and press your nose up against the window leaving marks on the glass.
That time when you saw two huge dogs and you ran and hid behind a pole.
When you’d bask in the sun on the patio, and rest on the lounge chair.
When we went on walks and you’d try to run so fast, sometimes to catch up to Chester and Rosie but you’d start choking because your legs were too short.
When you were a baby and you sat and then lay down on the neighbors front lawn because you were too tired
Your special stuffed animal friends; Otter (who went MIA) Bunny
When you jumped up on the table and drank a whole cup of coffee in barely seconds.
How you’d wince once you got in the bath, and shivered for hours and had to be cradled like an infant.
When you’d knock on the pillow in the corner of the couch and hide behind them, or sometimes hide on/behind/next to/with magazine pages.
How you would yell for a drink of water-from a bowl inside the house.
How you had to eat in the bathroom because you had to protect it from the other dogs that would lurch towards the bowl.
When you were little and inherited Tia’s “raincoat” and we put it on but it flipped over your head.
“Tia’s being inappropriate with Chloe!”
When you’d knock on our legs
When you’d sit on our feet and accost us.
How you would always yell and knock whne you wanted a drink. You would yell so bad. Even though I yelled and told you to stop it and pretend I didn’t know what you want, I knew.
When you lay in my laptop case.
When I was at the kitchen table on the computer and you’d lay on the wicker basket if there was a soft blanket on it. Then you’d sometimes look out the window.
How you yelled at the wind.
How you refused to go outside in the rain.
When you were a puppy and you sat in my pink corduroy backpack
Or after we got home from NY and you sat on top of the suitcase.
When you licked the spout on the water machine! Ew!
Tight buns.
Chloe is such a young lady.
