Nickname: Mr Q-tip

I had gotten Q-tip to be a companion for my mom when she was sick back in 2004. I got him from a co-worker that had recently moved from Georgia with him. The place she was moving to would not allow pets, so as fate would have it, I ended up with a very ,very special little friend. My mom passed away in 2005 and he became my lifesaver.I live in the country and have a very large yard and boy did he enjoy it.Loved being outside.when the weather was nice. He loved taking car rides and usually every weekend- I would take him to the dump with me and to the cemetery to visit my mom and dad's grave. He loved going to the cemetery and running around. I can see him now running across the yard with his long ears laid back- I called him Snoopy,( when he had on his cape and was flying).
Last year in August of 2011, I got another little buddy to be company for Q-tip. Well, at first he wanted nothing to do with him, but after a few months he warmed up and I guess decided that he was not going away, so he may as well become friends, and that they did.
Every morning before I leave for work, I would let them out for about 15 or 20 minutes before I fed them. Well, this is the sad part I want to share, I have tears filling my eyes now as I write this. On Tuesday morning,(06-26-12) I let them out, I then went to get ready for work, came down stairs and went to the door and called them-(come on boys!) come get your breakfast. every morning they would come running- BUT NOT-this morning. I went back inside for a few minutes and as soon as I got in the kitchen I heard a knock at my door. I had metioned I live in the country and have a large yard, well, beside me is an old country stored that is now a Moose Lodge. They are in the process of putting on an addition and the workmen were over there working. When ever they were there Q-tip and Tinker,( that is the little puppy buddy) would go greet them . What apparently happened was when I called them the first time to come get their breakfast- they started to run across the field towards home, but for some unknown reason this particular morning they ran alongside the highway to cross the field for home and got struck by a car. Both of them, but I want to believe that Q-tip was trying to protect Tinker because he got the full impact of the hit. I got my precious litte buddy and hurried to the Vet, but he died in my arms on the way.Tinker survied - A miracle but has gone thru quite an ordeal. Not only has to heal, but he has lost his best friend and so have I. I want to believe that he is now back with Momma in heaven once again and I will see them both someday.
