Fox was my special girl. She was everything to me. I love her more than life itself.

We lost Fox's sister, Possum last year, so I've been prepared - as prepared as one can be for losing the love of his life. Fox, along with her sister, was a puppy mill rescue. After the first grueling year of illness and lots of love and a healthy diet, she became the healthiest and happiest dog ever. She loved me with a passion rarely seen. She'd reach her paw out and slap it down gently whenever she wanted attention from any of us. She also bounced and slapped her paws on the floor when she was excited. She loved to get on the bed and have me put my hand under the cover and move it around and she would (gently) attack it and growl. She was an avid TV-watcher. She loved animal shows, of course, and barked at most. She once watched a Nova show on the origins of the universe, though, fascinated for the entire hour. She didn't like bad guys in any show and would bark at them when they came on the screen. She was an excellent judge of character. She loved to go on walks and liked to roam our farm (with me always close behind). She liked to go out with me to hang out the clothes as she considered that her special time. She loved going for rides in the truck, too, and went with us almost everywhere we went. We never boarded her or her sister. If they couldn't go on a trip with us, we didn't go. Possum always took care of Fox. When Possum passed away suddenly last year, we weren't sure how Fox would react. We adopted another rescue Pomeranian, Mink, (who had been in a cage all of her 4 years of life) awhile after Possum left us. Fox immediately took Mink under her wing, groomed her, played with her, and cared for her like Possum used to do with Fox. She seemed to rise to the role of caretaker and head honcho in the house. Fox had wonderful years with us. Both she and her sister taught us how to love deeply and with abandon. Her last year with us was no different. She enjoyed life right up to the end, which was very quick and peaceful. The hole in my heart will never be filled. I know she and Possum are reunited and that I will see them both again someday. Both were our once-in-a-lifetime loves.
